MasterChef Australia 15 | MasterChef Australia 15: Adi Nevgi’s Pani Puri with avocado and caviar filling wows judges
Adi Nevgi, a contestant of Indian origin, impressed the judges Melissa Leong, Andy Allen, and Jock Zonfrillo on the show “MasterChef Australia: Secrets & Surprises” with her unique Pani Puri dish filled with avocado and caviar.
During a Surprise Mystery Box Challenge in the episode that aired on Tuesday in India, Adi, a 31-year-old doctor from Melbourne, made Pani Puri. The contestants were surprised with a confetti blast as soon as they lifted the mystery box. Their task was to prepare a dish in 75 minutes that would surprise the judges.
Adi said, “I’m making Pani Puri, which is an Indian street snack. The normal dish is this little pillow of inflated dough, which is hollow in the middle. Then you fill it up with potato and lots of spices. Today I’m going to fill it with surprising flavors – salmon roe and avocado. I want to surprise the judges with what’s inside it, so that when they bite into it, they’re like, ‘Oh! Didn’t expect that’.”
Adi had a breezy time as she rolled thin dough for the crispy puris and stuffed them with her unique filling. “It has a crunchy texture on the outside and a beautiful creamy avocado mousse, sweet pops of corn, and salty pops of caviar. It works nicely. Well done,” praised Melissa on Adi’s dish.
