The movie Adipurush, featuring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, witnessed a significant 75% drop in its earnings on Monday, managing to accumulate only Rs. 20 crores after a bumper opening weekend of Rs. 340 crores at the domestic box office, according to Box Office India.
The Hindi version of Adipurush, starring Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, could only earn Rs. 9 crores nett on Monday. The total four-day earnings of the Hindi version for the Om Raut directorial are estimated to be approximately Rs. 113 crores nett.
Adipurush had a net opening of Rs. 93 crores across various languages in India, with the Hindi collection being around Rs. 37 crores.
Box Office India suggests that the movie may struggle to surpass the 2022 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, starring Kartik Aaryan, which had earned over Rs. 185 crores nett and was also backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
Analysts believe that Adipurush suffered greatly due to negative word-of-mouth. Since its release on Friday, the film received negative feedback on social media due to its subpar visual effects, poor character design, and shoddy writing.
