And Just Like That’s Kristin Davis Comments on Kim Cattrall Drama
The news of Kim Cattrall reprising her role in the “Sex and the City” sequel series, “And Just Like That,” came as a surprise to many fans. Despite Cattrall and the show’s creatives suggesting that a reunion was impossible due to years of friction with her former co-stars, it was announced that “And Just Like That” was in the works at Max.
Last year, Sarah Jessica Parker described her falling out with Cattrall as “very painful,” and their relationship still hadn’t changed. Parker shared her thoughts on the situation, stating, “I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way.”
While Cattrall declined to return as Samantha in the first season, the character was referenced as Parker’s Carrie spoke with her on the phone. However, there are rumors that Cattrall will make a voiceover cameo appearance in season 2, but she was not physically present on the set to reunite with any former co-stars.
Kristin Davis expressed her disappointment with the situation, saying she wishes she could “fix it” for the fans. However, she understands and respects Cattrall’s desire to stay away from “And Just Like That.”
Cattrall confirmed her involvement in “And Just Like That” by sharing an image of the news on Instagram, only writing “Happy Pride” in the post’s caption. Perhaps one main reason why Cattrall agreed to do the cameo was to make her fans happy, as a cameo as Samantha has been something many had been hoping for, and a quick voiceover appearance may be a compromise.
There are many who are now excited about Samantha’s return, even with a voice cameo, and that includes “Sex and the City” co-star Evan Handler. He recently said, “Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody, so the only place I have to welcome her is into my living room when it airs on television.”
The second season of “And Just Like That” is set to premiere on Max on June 22, 2023.
The recent news that Kim Cattrall would be reprising her Sex and the City role for the sequel series, And Just Like Thatcame as a big shocker for many fans. Since it was announced that And Just Like That was in the works at Max, both Cattrall and the show’s creatives had suggested that a reunion was impossible, due to years of friction with her former co-stars. Last year, Sarah Jessica Parker described her falling out with Cattrall as “very painful,” suggesting that their distant relationship still hadn’t changed.
“There were just a lot of public conversations about how she felt about the show,” Parker said, via THR. “I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show. And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way.”

Word is the season 2 appearance will be with a voiceover cameo only, and Cattrall was not physically present on the set to reunite with any former co-star. For her part, Kristin Davis just feels that the whole fiasco has been unfortunate, and while she says she wishes she can “fix it” for the fans, all she can do is respect Cattrall’s desire to, for the most part, stay away from And Just Like That.
“You have to respect people’s wishes. I’m not gonna waste energy on it. I can’t change anybody,” Davis explained, per The Telegraph. “I do understand fans’ feelings – that they’re upset… I wish I could fix it, but I can’t, it’s not in my power.”
