‘Bachelorette’ alum Shawn Booth expecting his first child
“Bachelorette” alum Shawn Booth is expecting a child.
“Baby Booth is on their way, expected on December 12,” announced the former reality star, who won Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of the ABC show in 2015, on his podcast “In the Booth with Shawn Booth” on Monday. “It’s happening. I’m going to be a father.”
While he didn’t disclose the name of the baby’s mother, Booth mentioned that she’s someone he’s been close with for many years.
“We’ve had a relationship and we’ve dated,” said the 37-year-old Booth. “This isn’t just some random girl I met at Honky Tonk Central.”
He also shared that the pregnancy was unexpected.
“This is a big surprise for both of us. To be open and honest, this wasn’t planned,” he continued. “But it will be and is the most beautiful surprise I’ve ever had in my life. And it’s going to be very special. I can’t wait. I’m ready. I’m 37 years old. I’ve always wanted to be a father.”
The personal trainer described how difficult it was for him and his partner to keep the pregnancy a secret, considering Nashville being a “small town” where “people talk.”
“Going through pregnancy and trying to keep it under wraps is obviously tricky. We didn’t really tell anybody,” he said, adding that he started revealing the news to people at around 10 to 12 weeks into the pregnancy.
Although he didn’t reveal her identity, Booth praised the mother of his unborn child as a “rock star” throughout this “overwhelming” journey.

“She’s going to be such a good mother. And it’s going to be incredible,” he told listeners. “She’s been an absolute champ, a rock star through it all.”

The fitness professional made it clear that he is paying no attention to any criticism about him taking an untraditional route as he has “not lived a traditional life.”
“I’m sure there will be a lot of people [who] have thoughts and opinions and all that. And I think now probably more than ever, I’ve gotten to a point where I’m like, ‘I don’t care what anybody thinks.’ If they’re like,’ you’re not married.’ It’s like, ‘Listen, that’s not what’s important here.’”
The couple is not finding out the sex of the baby until birth and are 18 weeks along in the pregnancy. They will also “incorporate both” of their last names when naming the child.
Booth was the winner of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of the “Bachelorette” and was engaged from 2015 to 2018.
Booth and Bristowe have talked negatively about one another since calling off their engagement with Bristowe, 38, accusing him of “using her until his gym opened” on her fiancé Jason Tartick’s podcast “Trading Secrets.”
Booth, on his part, called Bristowe’s decision to pursue Tartick, 34, who is also part of
Bachelor Nation, “disrespectful.”
