Bam Margera to stand trial for allegedly assaulting his brother
A judge issued a ruling on Thursday that Bam Margera must stand trial for allegedly assaulting his brother, Jess Margera, earlier this year, as reported by the Associated Press.
Judge Albert Iacocca also ordered the “Jackass” star, who has been released on $50,000 bail, to undergo a drug and alcohol screening in order to avoid imprisonment.
Bam reportedly informed the judge that he has been attending a drug and alcohol treatment program in Los Angeles and residing with Lamar Odom, a fellow recovering addict.
However, sources close to the NBA star revealed last month that the “Viva La Bam” star “did not wish to complete the program” and attempted to flee to Las Vegas.
“We want to ensure your safety, security, and well-being,” Iacocca told Bam, who added, “To see my 5-year-old son, Phoenix.”
The former MTV star was charged with one count of simple assault, one count of harassment, and four counts of terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another individual.
However, prosecutors reportedly agreed on Thursday to drop two of the terroristic threats charges, despite Bam allegedly threatening to shoot various family members and leaving a threatening note for his brother.
“I’m not trying to get him in trouble here,” Jess said during the Pennsylvania hearing. “I just want him to get the help he needs because I feel like this is our last chance.”
The altercation between the brothers occurred in April, leading to an arrest warrant for Bam.
Jess stated during the hearing that the fight erupted when his brother discovered a text message suggesting he needed mental health treatment.

Allegedly, Bam then struck Jess in the nose and ear, resulting in a ruptured eardrum.

The “Bam’s Unholy Union” alum was accused of being on the run with his girlfriend and a child, but he turned himself in three days after police issued an arrest warrant.
Bam’s attorney Michael van der Veen told TheFantasyTimes at the time that his client was “never” on the run and went to the station as soon as he found out police were looking for him.
The former pro skateboarder previously entered a plea of not guilty and, according to his lawyer, agreed to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation as “many defendants have to [do] when out on bail.”
However, Van der Veen disagreed with a need for the hearing Thursday, noting, “I don’t know what we’re doing here,” per AP.
He added, “This is a disagreement between two brothers on a Sunday morning over coffee.”
It does not appear that a trial date has yet been set. Van der Veen and reps for Jess did not immediately return TheFantasyTimes’s request for comment.
