Best Legends In Apex Legends 2023, Ranked

Apex Legends is a game that strives to keep its gameplay balanced and fair for all players. To achieve this, they regularly rework their legends and provide buffs and nerfs to ensure that no legend is too overpowering. With over 23 unique legends, it can be challenging to manage and balance them all, and some will inevitably be stronger than others.

When Apex Legends first came out, some legends were vastly different from their current state. For example, Lifeline used to be able to heal faster than other legends, but her rework caused her to lose popularity. Wraith was another legend that has seen massive changes since her initial state. Despite her constant nerfs, Wraith remains a popular legend among aggressive players.

As of June 23, 2023, the best legends in Apex Legends are ranked against each other. Defense and repositioning legends are critical in any team as they can lock down areas and escape when needed. Support legends have also seen a massive buff as they can resurrect timed-out banners. The ability to purchase timed-out banners is possible through the replicator and can be done by any legend in the team, with the process costing 30 crafting materials.

Here are the top 12 legends ranked from weakest to strongest:

12. Caustic: Caustic is a strong end-game legend and among the best legends for indoor use. However, he struggles to remain useful in open areas, which leaves him weak in maps with frequent third partying. Caustic pairs well with many legend combinations, such as Valkyrie and Gibraltar.

11. Wattson: Wattson is a rare pick in casual play as her kit takes time to learn and use to its full potential. In tournaments, Wattson remains a strong pick as she provides stellar area lockdown capabilities that can lead to victory when done right.

10. Valkyrie: While Valkyrie used to be the strongest legend for the past couple of seasons, the addition of the Evac Tower has lessened her usefulness as all players can carry an Evac Tower in their survival tool slot. Valkyrie is still a strong legend due to her passive as her ability to fly is excellent in repositioning.

9. Seer: Seer was released as an overpowered legend and was nerfed to a reasonable degree. He provides unrivaled scouting information and can deny heals through a well-timed tactical ability. However, players are debating that Seer requires a nerf as he currently has the strongest passive in the game.

8. Lifeline: After receiving her recent ultimate buff, Lifeline can properly utilize her kit. The recent ultimate buff drastically reduces the waiting period for her ultimate and only requires mere seconds. Players can take advantage of Lifelines Ultimate without delaying the team.

7. Gibraltar: Players that enjoy sniping will find that Gibraltar is a great pick and his arm shield allows him to take quick peeks without much worry. His tactical ability is handy throughout the game but shines best during the end phase.

6. Bloodhound: Bloodhound is currently a perfectly balanced legend that provides great utility to their team through valuable information. Their ultimate allows them to gain a speed boost to help them relocate to a better position, and their tactical provides vital information to scan out enemies.

5. Ash: With her most recent buff, Ash can use her tactical and maintain weapon sprint speed momentum. This speed buff aids players to have better chances of utilizing Ash’s tactical and not getting punished by the previous slower speed. Ash’s tactical is great for locking down enemy players and providing her team with an opportunity to down an enemy locked in a small area.

4. Pathfinder: Similarly to Wraith, Pathfinder’s ultimate had a large buff he needed. His Ultimate now goes up to 200 meters and has received a speed increase that allows for faster rotations. The longer ultimate allows Pathfinder to create viable rotation options for his team that make for excellent rotation options.

3. Ballistic: Ballistic is the latest legend added to Apex Legendsand he is among the strongest. His abilities are different than the norm, as they affect weapons directly. Ballistic’s tactical is a nuisance to enemies if players can use them and will cause enemies to play passively for a few seconds.

2. Wraith: Wraith’s ultimate buff allowed her to provide excellent team utility in planning team attacks and repositioning.

1. Gibraltar: Gibraltar is the top pick for snipers due to his arm shield and bubble fights. He is also great for aggressive plays during the end phase.

In conclusion, Apex Legends continues to strive for balance and fairness in their gameplay by reworking legends and providing buffs and nerfs. Players can choose from a variety of legends, each with their unique abilities and strengths, to create a well-rounded team.

Apex Legends regularly rework legends and provide buffs and nerfs to keep the game balanced or as much as they can. Due to the difficulty of managing over 23 unique legends, some will be stronger than others. When the game first came out, some legends were vastly different from their current state.

Lifeline could heal faster than other legends, but her rework caused her to lose popularity. Wraith was another legend that has seen massive changes since her initial state. Wraith remains a popular legend despite her constant nerfs to her kit. She is still an excellent pick for aggressive players. For 2023, here’s how the best legends in Apex Legends rank against each other.

Updated June 23, 2023, by Aly Azmy: Season 17 has toppled the best legend and has provided needed tweaks to certain ones. Placement is the best way to rank up and gain points. Defense and repositioning legends are vital in any team as they can lock down areas and escape when needed. Support legends have also seen a massive buff as they can resurrect timed-out banners. The ability to purchase timed-out banners is possible through the replicator and can be done by any legend in the team, with the process costing 30 crafting materials.

12 Caustic

Caustic was a terrifying legend to face in Kings Canyon during the early days of Apex Legends. Caustic is a strong end-game legend and among the best legends for indoor use. Caustic struggles to remain useful in open areas, which leaves him weak in maps with frequent third partying such as Broken Moon. Getting caught in the open with no movement abilities and a large hitbox is a recipe for disaster.

Caustic pairs well with many legend combinations, such as Valkyrie and Gibraltar. Gibraltar provides resetting potential for Caustic through his dome shield allowing for easy escapes with his ultimate when things get too intense.

11 Wattson

Wattson is a rare pick in casual play as her kit takes time to learn and use to its full potential. In tournaments, Wattson remains a strong pick as she provides stellar area lockdown capabilities that can lead to victory when done right. Wattson’s pylon will counter many legend abilities and allows her to create safe zones for her team, which has excellent potential for the end game. Her fences are excellent in locking down buildings and are great when the final zone is near a building.

Wattson requires a good team composition to make her shine. Newcastle will pair well with Wattson as her pylon will buff his ultimate by negating incoming ordinance.

10 Valkyrie

valkyrie flying

While Valkyrie reigned as the strongest legend for the past couple of seasons, the addition of the Evac Tower has toppled her rule. Valkyrie’s usefulness has lessened as all players can carry an Evac Tower in their survival tool slot. The Evac Tower is a common item that is essentially a Valkyrie ultimate.

Valkyrie is still a strong legend due to her passive as her ability to fly is excellent in repositioning. Her tactical is average but will catch players off guard if they underestimate it.

9 Seer

Seer (1)-1

Seer was released as an overpowered legend and was nerfed to a reasonable degree. He provides unrivaled scouting information and can deny heals through a well-timed tactical ability. Players are debating that Seer requires a nerf as he currently has the strongest passive in the game. His passive allows him to act as a radar with no counter. Seer’s passive has been nerfed in season 16 causing a loud indicator of when he is scanning.

His ultimate reveals enemies and is difficult to counter if it is hidden. In the recent ALGS, Seer saw exceptional usage in aggressive teams.

8 Lifeline

Lifeline healing player

After receiving her recent ultimate buff, Lifeline can properly utilize her kit. The recent ultimate buff drastically reduces the waiting period for her ultimate and only requires mere seconds. Players can take advantage of Lifelines Ultimate without delaying the team. This change has caused Lifeline’s pick rate to increase substantially.

Lifeline’s Ultimate has a high chance to provide players with purple shields and high-tier weapon attachments. By taking advantage of ultimate accelerants, teams can guarantee purple shields without landing in risky high-tier loot areas or engaging in combat.

Lifeline’s passive allows her to revive downed players while still fighting. Previously Lifeline would stop to a halt when initiating a revive, but a previous buff allowed her to keep her momentum. By maintaining her momentum, Lifeline will be harder to shoot as she no longer halts to a stop.

7 Gibraltar

Players that enjoy sniping will find that Gibraltar is a great pick and his arm shield allows him to take quick peeks without much worry. His tactical ability is handy throughout the game but shines best during the end phase. A player skilled in Gibraltar bubble fights will wreck other players in close range, allowing for aggressive plays.

Gibraltar would rank higher if it were not for the Mad Maggie tactical counter that renders his tactical useless. His ultimate remains powerful at flushing enemies out or away but is easily avoided.

6 Bloodhound

Bloodhound is currently a perfectly balanced legend that provides great utility to their team through valuable information. Their ultimate allows them to gain a speed boost to help them relocate to a better position, and their tactical provides vital information to scan out enemies. Playing Bloodhound is easy to master when players have the essentials down.

The season 16 tweak to Bloodhound changed how Bloodhound functions but has led to them being able to track down the nearest enemy player.

5 Ash

Ash using tactical

On her release, Ash was a balanced legend but required a few tweaks to allow her to shine. With her most recent buff, Ash can use her tactical and maintain weapon sprint speed momentum. This speed buff aids players to have better chances of utilizing Ash’s tactical and not getting punished by the previous slower speed.

Ash’s tactical is great for locking down enemy players and providing her team with an opportunity to down an enemy locked in a small area. Her ultimate is also great for aggressive teams as she can instantly create a portal allowing her team to reposition to a safer spot.

While Wraith’s portal works both ways, Ash’s portal requires no preparation and will rescue teams caught in a bad spot.

4 Pathfinder

Similarly to Wraith, Pathfinder’s ultimate had a large buff he needed. His Ultimate now goes up to 200 meters and has received a speed increase that allows for faster rotations. The longer ultimate allows Pathfinder to create viable rotation options for his team that make for excellent rotation options. His faster zipline speed makes it harder for enemies to shoot players down, but this also depends on their weapons.

The 60% distance increase to his ultimate allows Pathfinder to contribute rotations to the team and become a vital asset.

3 Ballistic

Ballistic is the latest legend added to Apex Legendsand he is among the strongest. His abilities are different than the norm, as they affect weapons directly. Ballistic’s tactical is a nuisance to enemies if players can use them and will cause enemies to play passively for a few seconds.

Pushing fights in Apex Legends is usually a scary process and is not guaranteed to end well. Ballistic boosts team weapons within an area by providing faster reloads with infinite ammo and a player movement speed bonus.

Using Ballistics Ultimate to push enemies will give a team an advantage as the faster reload time allows players to lay down more pressure while keeping mobile. Many players underestimate Ballistic’s passive and the possibilities a third weapon provides. While the third weapon may not benefit from attachments, it is an excellent slot for shotguns for close-quarter fights for players that prefer weapons with range.

2 Wraith

Wraith’s ultimate buff allowed her to provide excellent team utility in planning team attacks and repositioning. The speed boost empowers players to have an easier time creating portals. The increased distance allows Wraith to bridge longer gaps that benefit her team.

The main two advantages of Wraith portals are pushing enemies and rescuing teammates. Attacking an enemy team with a Wraith portal allows teams to have a favorable position at the start of a fight and a fast way to disengage if things turn hairy.

As for her tactical, Wraith is excellent at initiating fights and phasing away to prevent a down. This allows teammates to push closer to enemies or punish players that attempt to chase a phasing Wraith. Wraith will remain among the most popular legends as her tactical provide an easy escape from death, and her ultimate has many uses for team play.

1 Horizon

Horizon (1)-1

Movement legends are strong but struggle to bring team play potential to their team, such as Pathfinder. Horizon is a complex legend with a lot of utility to her team. Learning how to play Horizon will allow players to create more scenarios that help them excel.

Her gravity lift can be used by her entire team and has the potential to get the jump on an enemy team. Using her ultimate will require experience to make it effective, but it will pair great with legends such as Fuse. Horizon’s ultimate can be lethal when coordinated well with teammates.

Apex Legends is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
