Caulk And Bawl Side Quest Guide
After completing the main quest Home, Sweet Home in Final Fantasy 16 and starting The Gathering Storm, Clive gets access to a new side quest in the updated Hideaway called Caulk and Bawl. To begin this quest, Clive must interact with the Reading Table in his Chambers and read Gav’s letter. The side quest involves helping a hooded man named Obolus, who asks Clive for a favor to repair his boat.
Upon speaking to Obolus, Clive learns that he lacks the necessary materials to repair his boat. If players choose to help, Clive will set off in search of the materials. To acquire the Pitcher Wax Obolus needs, Clive must fast-travel to the Three Reeds, just north of The Hideaway. Upon spawning in, he must then follow the linear path in front of him until he can turn left and head toward the base of the cliff ahead of him. Proceeding toward the green quest marker here, the brave outlaw will encounter a group of five Thorny Thistles, each of which must be vanquished in order to obtain the Pitcher Wax.
Once Clive has acquired the Pitcher Wax, he can fast-travel back to The Hideaway and speak to Obolus once more. Upon interacting with him, players will be given the option to hand the wax over; once they do, Obolus will thank Clive for his services before telling him about the history of the Argo, the boat he plans to repair. The boat means a great deal to Obolus, as it originally belonged to his father; it now serves as a reminder of him. When Obolus finishes reminiscing about the past, he will reward Clive for his help by giving him a Badge of Might +1 accessory.
The Badge of Might +1 accessory can then be equipped via the Gear & Eikons tab in the pause menu to increase Clive’s Attack by 12 points. If players feel that Clive’s damage output could be a little better, they should consider placing this accessory in one of his available accessory slots. Once the accessory has been added to Clive’s inventory, the Caulk and Bawl side quest will end.
