Charlize Theron claps back at people who think she had facelift

Charlize Theron, the 48-year-old actress, confidently embraces the process of getting older, disregarding speculations that she has undergone cosmetic procedures. In an interview with Allure, Theron addressed the rumors, stating, “People think I had a facelift. They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens.'”

The renowned star, known for her role in the “Fast X” franchise, began her journey in Hollywood in the late ’90s. Despite societal pressure to maintain youthful appearances, Theron proudly embraces the natural changes in her face. “My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and aging,” she expressed.

Theron also expressed her disdain for the double standard that exists when it comes to aging. She remarked, “I despise that concept and I want to fight against it. But I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them. I think we need to be a little bit more empathetic to how we all go through our journey.”

The “Atomic Blonde” actress further explained that she will no longer undergo extreme physical transformations for movie roles. She stated, “I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds.’ I will never do it again because you can’t take it off.” Theron recalled her experience during the film “Monster” when she lost 30 pounds almost overnight. However, when she gained weight at the age of 43 for her role in “Tully,” she struggled to shed the pounds as easily. She shared, “I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.’ And he was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it was.’ Nobody wants to hear that.”

Despite being known for her ability to perform her own stunts in action-packed blockbusters, Theron acknowledged that her body no longer recovers as quickly as it did in her younger years. She expressed, “The thing that really bums me out is that I make action movies now and if I hurt myself, I take way longer to heal than I did in my 20s. More than my face, I wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can just throw against the wall and not even hurt tomorrow. Now, if I don’t work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I can’t walk. I can’t sit down on the toilet.”

In addition to Theron, other prominent figures like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow have recently spoken out about aging in the public eye and challenging societal beauty standards.

Charlize Theron isn’t scared of getting older even though people may think she’s had work done.

“People think I had a facelift,” the 48-year-old actress told Allure in an interview published Friday.

“They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens.’”

“My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and aging,” she added.

Theron added she loathes the double standard “that men kind of age like fine wines and women like cut flowers.

“I despise that concept and I want to fight against it,” she continued. “But I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them. I think we need to be a little bit more empathetic to how we all go through our journey.”

But Theron couldn’t lose the pounds as quickly when she gained weight again at 43 for her role in 2018’s “Tully.”

“I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.’ And he was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it was.’ Nobody wants to hear that,” she said.

While the A-lister is known for performing her own stunts in her action-packed blockbusters, she admitted she doesn’t bounce back from injuries like when she was younger.
