Clone Wars Season 7 Clone Trooper Cosplay Honors Ahsoka In The Best Way

A cosplay of Captain Vaughn pays tribute to Ahsoka Tano’s character and one of the most emotional scenes in season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Throughout the Clone Wars, Ahsoka fought alongside the clone troopers of the 501st Legion. CT-0292, also known as Vaughn, was a Captain of the 332nd Company, a division within the 501st Legion. Vaughn and his men assisted Ahsoka during the Siege of Mandalore in season 7 of The Clone Wars. As a show of deep respect for her before the battle, the clones painted their helmets to match Ahsoka’s facial markings, adding to the heartbreak of their deaths during the siege.

Cosplayer Bryan Freeman (@extreme4x4dude) shared an impressive cosplay of Captain Vaughn inspired by the crucial scene where the clones reveal their painted helmets before embarking on a dangerous, yet ultimately successful mission.

The Captain Vaughn cosplay features the traditional clone trooper armor with accents painted in the recognizable blue shade of the 501st Legion, as well as orange and white markings as a tribute to Ahsoka, the clones’ former Jedi Commander. Unfortunately, Captain Vaughn and many of the men from the 332nd Company were killed during the Siege of Mandalore after falling into a trap set by Maul. Their fate was already sealed, as Order 66 was enacted soon after the battle on Mandalore concluded.

Even though Ahsoka had left the Jedi Order and was no longer their official commander, the clones still saw her as their leader. Over the years of fighting together, she had earned their trust and respect. She had grown from a young and impulsive Padawan to a Jedi Commander they could depend on, someone who would go to great lengths to protect them and value them as individuals. The clones didn’t paint their helmets to match Ahsoka’s facial markings simply because she was their former commander. They did it because she was still their friend and comrade.

When Order 66 was executed, Ahsoka, like all other Jedi, faced a difficult choice. Should she fight back and kill the troopers she respected so deeply, or find another way? Ahsoka, who had experienced losing control of her own destiny when the Jedi Council falsely accused her of treason, refused to be the one to take their lives. With the help of Rex, she managed to escape the chaos, although many of the clones that pursued her perished in a

The Clones’ Respect For Ahsoka Made Her Order 66 Story Even More Tragic

Ahsoka in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 finale

Though Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, and she was no longer their official commander, the clones still regarded her as such. Over the years fighting together, she had earned their trust and respect, developing from a young, brash, and overconfident Padawan learner who often forgot to think about the consequences of her actions into a Jedi Commander they could rely on, who would do anything to save them and respected them as individual people, too. When the clones painted their helmets to match Ahsoka’s facial markings, they didn’t do it because she was their former commander. They did it because she was still their friend and comrade.

When Order 66 was instigated, Ahsoka, like every other Jedi, was forced to make a tough decision. Fight back and kill those troopers she respected so much, or find another way. Ahsoka knew, more than anyone, what it was like to lose control of her fate after the Jedi Council wrongly accused her of treason. She refused to be the one to kill them, and with Rex’s help, she escaped the carnage – though many of the clones that came after her still lost their lives in a subsequent crash. But the clone troopers’ painted masks served as a constant reminder of who they used to be, even as Ahsoka was forced to stand against them every step of the way in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series finale.
