Noticeably absent from the list of pro dancers this year is Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson and Sharna Burgess, all of whom have welcomed babies within the past few years.
While Arnold and Carson announced weeks ago that they chose not to come back in order to focus on family life, Burgess revealed in a teaser for her new “Old•ish” podcast that she wasn’t asked to return.

“[It] was definitely a huge shock to me,” admitted Burgess, who last competed in 2021 with boyfriend Brian Austin Green. “Last season I was supposed to come back but [my son] Zane was only eight weeks old. I just felt like I needed to sit in motherhood with Zane. It was my first baby, first experience, it was a lot.”
Burgess said she intended to come back this season – but never got the call from producers.
“I realized [it] when those [pro dancer] spots were all filled,” she said, confessing she “had a feeling” she might not be asked back. “I didn’t get confirmed on or off; I just knew because of other people. That was really hard.”

Longtime pro Cheryl Burke will also be missed after announcing her retirement from the dance competition series last November after 26 seasons.
“I am overwhelmed. I’ve been trying to hold back the tears,” she told TheFantasyTimes at the time. “[It’s been] so hard … [but] I had to do this for me.”
