Dave Portnoy says Travis Kelce wouldn’t be his ‘first choice’ to date ‘mother’ Taylor Swift
Dave Portnoy has expressed his thoughts on the rumored romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and he believes that Swift can find a better partner. The 33-year-old singer, known for her hit song “Cruel Summer,” has reportedly been spending time with the NFL star after he attempted to give her his phone number at one of her recent Eras Tour concerts but was unsuccessful. Portnoy, a self-proclaimed Swiftie, took to his Instagram Story to ask fans if they support the rumored pairing, acknowledging that it may not be his first choice but stating that Swift deserves to have fun. He later shared his thoughts on the match-up on the Barstool Sports blog, expressing his approval of the relationship between Kelce and the 12-time Grammy winner.
Portnoy, who had previously disliked Kelce, admitted that he has changed his opinion and now believes that the athlete enjoys being in the spotlight. However, he also thinks that Kelce may be more interested in the idea of dating Swift rather than actually dating her. Despite his doubts about the relationship’s potential, Portnoy supports it and believes that it could inspire some great songs if they were to break up. He also praised Kelce, noting his dominance on the field and his down-to-earth personality in person.
Swift, at 33 years old, has been seen hanging out with Kelce for a few weeks. This news comes after Swift’s successful night at the MTV VMAs, where she took home nine awards, including Video, Song, and Artist of the Year. She performed her hit song “Anti-Hero” and won additional awards for Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Show of the Summer, and Album of the Year for “Midnights.” Although she was nominated for a total of 11 awards, she did not win Best Editing and Song of the Summer.
Dave Portnoy has some thoughts on Taylor Swift’s new rumored romance with Travis Kelce — and he thinks the singer can do better.
The “Cruel Summer” hitmaker, 33, has reportedly been hanging out with the NFL star for a few weeks after Kelce tried — and failed — to give Swift his phone number at one of her recent Eras Tour concerts.
Taking to his Instagram Story Tuesday night, the self-confessed Swiftie posted a poll asking fans if they “ship” the rumored pairing.
“Wouldn’t be my 1st choice but Mother works hard to provide for us,” he wrote. “She is allowed to have fun too.”
Portnoy later took to the Barstool Sports blog to share his thoughts on the match-up, saying approves of the rumored relationship between Kelce and the 12-time Grammy winner.

Admitting that he’s “come a long way” from “despising” the Kansas City Chiefs star, Portnoy still believes the athlete is “a huge spotlight guy.”
“So I bet he likes the idea of dating Taylor more than actually dating her,” Portnoy wrote. “But that’s okay. Taylor loves dating big-name celebs who are sure to break her heart so why not a football player over some DJ or musician?”
“Granted if she went the athlete route I’d picture her more of a Daniel Jones type guy but the heart wants what the heart wants,” he added. “Also I’m a firm believer that the athlete should get the girl not the band geek. That’s just Darwinism 101.”

“So even though I think there is no shot in hell this relationship works or ever gets serious I do support it,” Portnoy added. “At the very least we should get a few good songs out of the break up.”
Elsewhere, Portnoy praised Kelce and admitted to not liking him in the past.
“Over the years he’s sort of won me over by the fact that he keeps dominating and you can talk the talk if you can walk the walk,” he wrote.

“Plus I’ve met him a few times and he’s a nice guy in person. Way more down to earth and normal than I would have guessed by his onfield theatrics.”
It comes as Swift swept the MTV VMAs Tuesday night, taking home nine gongs, including Video, Song and Artist of the Year.
