Destiny 2: Iron Banner Guide

Massively multiplayer online games like Destiny 2 are designed to become more complex as players progress, keeping veteran players interested. However, this can be daunting for new players who face a steep learning curve. This guide aims to help new players get started with Iron Banner, a week-long PvP mode in Destiny 2 where 12 players compete for exclusive rewards, including gear sets, weapons, and pinnacle armor.

Iron Banner takes place three times a season, or roughly once a month, and is accessible through the Crucible playlist. The mode for the entire season remains the same, with players competing in Rift, Eruption, Control, or Fortress modes. The objective of most modes is to kill as many enemies as possible while avoiding getting killed. The game adds some additional features, such as Eruption’s Surging and Primed buffs, Rift’s football-like scoring mechanics, and Capture’s king of the hill points.

Iron Banner Reputation is one of the ways players can earn rewards during the event, with each match earning players rank-up points. You can earn additional Iron Banner reputation per match by playing multiple games in a row (up to five) and equipping Iron Banner emblems, weapons, and gear. Participating in Iron Banner is now simpler since the quest prerequisite has been removed. Players can go to their Director, open the Crucible, select the Iron Banner playlist, and queue up.

Rewards for Iron Banner include exclusive armor sets, weapons, and tokens. Players can earn rewards by ranking up or by spending tokens with Lord Saladin. Iron Banner weapon rewards include two exclusive weapons obtained via the rank system at ranks 4 and 7. Other weapons can be obtained from engrams, which can be focused to specific gear using Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Players can also decrypt engrams directly from Lord Saladin for randomly rolled rewards.

Similarly to weapon drops, armor sets can drop from engrams and as rank-up rewards. There are nine total armor sets associated with Iron Banner. Each Iron Banner has a series of challenges attached to it, which will net players extra rewards. Iron Banner matches also contribute toward seasonal and Pinnacle challenges. Players can earn a Pinnacle reward from completing enough Iron Banner matches during the week through the associated challenge. Daily challenges can be completed retroactively, allowing players to complete the entire week’s challenges on the final day of the event.

In conclusion, Iron Banner is a week-long PvP mode in Destiny 2 designed to offer exclusive rewards to players who compete. This guide offers essential information on Iron Banner, including how to participate, what the possible rewards are, and how to earn Iron Banner reputation. With this knowledge, new players can confidently jump into the PvP scene and compete with veteran players.

MMOs like Destiny 2 have a way of becoming ever more complex to keep veteran players interested. Unfortunately, this means that new players have a steep learning curve. This guide will help new players in the PvP scene get started with Iron Banner.

  • Capture’s king of the hill points

For most of its history, Iron Banner factored power level into Guardian power, but that is no longer the case in Iron Banner. Even so, having the best possible gear equipped can make a big difference.
