Downcast Anya Taylor-Joy comforted by husband Malcolm McRae as she holds back tears

Distressed and visibly emotional, Anya Taylor-Joy was photographed outside her Los Angeles home with her husband, Malcolm McRae. The talented actress, known for her role in “The Queen’s Gambit,” appeared gloomy as her husband, a former drummer for “Portugal. The Man,” consoled her with a comforting hug and kiss on Thursday. The couple seemed to be engaged in a serious conversation after they were initially seen bringing guitars into their home while Taylor-Joy, 27, was on a phone call. At one point, McRae lovingly held his wife’s head as she rested on his chest. However, she managed to brighten up a bit and took a stroll hand-in-hand with the musician in their neighborhood, accompanied by a friend. Throughout the outing, the actress seemed on the brink of tears, finding solace in the presence of her husband, Malcolm McRae.

Earlier in the day, Taylor-Joy was spotted carrying guitars into their home, appearing somber. Nevertheless, during the outing, the “Menu” star, dressed in a white V-neck tank top and a black high-low skirt, did not manage to crack a smile. On the other hand, McRae, 29, opted for an all-black ensemble with a long-sleeve button-up and pants.

In July 2022, TheFantasyTimes exclusively reported that the couple had secretly tied the knot in a courthouse wedding after a year of dating. Speculation about their engagement had arisen a month prior when Taylor-Joy was seen in Australia wearing a diamond ring on her finger. The reason behind the actress’s distress remains unclear. However, she seemed to shake it off when a friend joined her and McRae for a walk.

The actress and the “Brotherly” actor made their relationship public in February 2022 when they made their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. It wasn’t until March of that year that Taylor-Joy openly discussed McRae in an interview with British Vogue. “I’ve finally found someone who enjoys sitting in silence with me while reading,” she shared. “We’re like 80-year-olds and 7-year-olds at the same time, and it works really well.”
