Final Fantasy 16: Every Bahamut Ability, Ranked

Bahamut, a well-known summon in the Final Fantasy franchise, returns in Final Fantasy 16. Each Eikon tree has its own area of expertise. Phoenix is great for learning the core aspects of the game. Garuda provides players with much-needed mobility. Titan turns players into a tank with numerous counterattack options and faster Limit Break generation.

While Ramuh, Odin, and Bahamut all focus on damage output, they each handle it differently. Ramuh is geared towards players who prefer damage per hit, Bahamut is for those who enjoy damage per second, and Odin has players relentlessly build up a gauge to unleash a devastating finishing blow. For some of the highest DPS in the game, Bahamut’s powerful abilities can quickly swing a challenging battle in the player’s favor.

Bahamut’s abilities are versatile and allow players to keep moving while dealing damage to their targets. Flare Breath releases a beam of radiant flames that continuously deals damage while allowing players to control the direction of the damage with the right analog stick. This ability can also be used to control the field by moving enemies where the player wants them for a follow-up combo.

Impulse creates several orbs that damage enemies and keep them in place. They can be detonated at will, and the more times they have dealt damage to their targets, the more damage the detonation will cause. Satellite summons several familiars to the player’s side, allowing for a more mid-range combat play style.

Wings of Light is Bahamut’s Eikonic Feature, allowing players to cast a Megaflare that becomes more potent the longer the circle button is held down. Performing a precise dodge will increase the rate of Megaflare’s charge, and once it hits its maximum level, players can unleash it upon their targets.

Gigaflare is an even more devastating beam of overcharged light that can decimate a large portion of what makes an encounter dangerous. However, it comes with a high cost of 11,980 Ability Points, making it important to spread out Ability Points and farm more.

In conclusion, Bahamut’s abilities offer players a range of options to deal damage and control the field. Each ability has its own strengths and weaknesses, allowing players to customize their play style and dominate challenging battles.

Bahamut is a long-running summon in the Final Fantasy franchise, and they make a returning appearance in Final Fantasy 16. Each Eikon tree has some area of expertise to it. Phoenix is great for learning all the core aspects of the game. Garuda gives you some much-welcomed mobility. Titan turns you into a tank with lots of counterattack options and faster Limit Break generation.

While Ramuh, Odin, and Bahamut all have a larger focus on their damage output, they each handle it very differently. Ramuh is geared toward players who like damage per hit, Bahamut is for those who enjoy damage per second, and Odin has you relentlessly build up a gauge to unleash a devastating finishing blow. For some of the highest DPS in the game, Bahamut’s powerful abilities can quickly swing a tough battle in your favor.

5 Flare Breath

Final Fantasy 16 Bahamut Flare Breath

Bahamut’s abilities are all very versatile and will give you a way to keep moving around while constantly dealing damage to your targets. Flare Breath will have you release a beam of radiant-looking flames that will continuously deal out damage while it is in effect. While breathing out these flames, you are able to use the right analog stick to control the direction they deal damage in. You are also able to still move around freely with the left analog stick, giving you a form of twin-stick shooter-style gameplay.

This attack can also be used to control the field by moving enemies where you want them for a follow-up combo. This ability does not have a base cost, but it will cost 600 Ability Points to upgrade and a further 1000 ability points to master, leading to a total Ability Point cost of 1600. Upgrading it will increase its range, and mastering it will allow you to assign the ability to any of your other Eikons.

4 Impulse

This ability just trumps Flare Breath by being able to dish out more damage in a shorter amount of time. While Flare Breath lets you control the distance between you and your foes, this ability creates several orbs that will damage any enemies you hit, as well as keep them in place. These orbs can be detonated at will, and the more times they have dealt damage to their targets, the more damage this detonation will cause.

You will know when to detonate them by the orbs changing their appearance, and doing so will optimize your damage output. This ability does not have a base cost, but it will cost 450 Ability Points to upgrade and a further 1000 ability points to master. This means it has a total Ability Point cost of 1450. Upgrading it will increase the number of orbs created, and mastering it will allow you to assign the ability to any of your other Eikons.

3 Satellite

Final Fantasy 16 Bahamut Satellite

What puts Satellite above Impulse is that it is easier to use, and this allows for more consistent returns from using it. Having Impulse synergize with other abilities can get higher damage numbers, but there is less room for error, and it will need you to react much faster to what is happening around you. Satellite will summon several familiars to your side, which will attack anything you cast a spell on. This includes Charged Magic as well.

Satellite lets you keep some distance between you and your targets at all times for a more mid-range combat play style. This ability comes with a base cost of 100 Ability Points, with a further cost of 700 Ability Points to upgrade and 1000 ability points to master, ending up with a total Ability Point cost of 1800. Upgrading it will increase the number of familiars summoned, and mastering it will allow you to assign the ability to any of your other Eikons.

2 Wings Of Light

Final Fantasy 16 Bahamut Wings of light

This is Bahamut’s Eikonic Feature, and it has a big windup for a big payoff. Hold down the circle button to begin casting your Megaflare, and look stunning while doing so. The longer you hold down the button, the more potent this spell will be. You can cast this spell once it has reached level 1, but it is recommended to keep holding it in until it hits the maximum level. While you charge up this attack, you are not defenseless, as you will still be able to dodge.

Performing a precise dodge will increase the rate of your Megaflare’s charge. Once it hits its maximum level, unleash it upon your targets. This ability comes with no base cost, and you will only be able to upgrade it once, which will master it in the process. Mastering this ability will raise the maximum level of Megaflare from a value of 3 up to a value of 4.

1 Gigaflare

Final Fantasy 16 Bahamut Gigaflare

If you’ve been having fun with Megaflare, just wait until you try Gigaflare. Gigaflare will unleash an utterly devastating beam of overcharged light. You will be able to use both your left and right analog sticks to aim this attack and can decimate a large portion of what makes an encounter dangerous due to how much damage it packs. You will really need to have been banking those ability points and may very well need to go back to farming some more, as this ability comes with a base cost of 2730 Ability Points.

It gets even more ridiculous, as the cost to upgrade it is 3250 Ability Points, and mastering this ability is going to set you back a shocking 6000 Ability Points. This means it has a total cost of 11,980 Ability Points! Funneling everything you have into just this one ability is not wise, and it is best to spread out your Ability Points to be more rounded and work towards mastering it by farming some more. Upgrading it will increase the number of hits from the beam attack, and mastering it will allow you to assign the ability to any of your other Eikons.
