Return to the Hideaway
While it may appear peculiar, players are advised to revisit the Hideaway at the commencement of “Onward.” This is because two side quests become available, offering players extraordinary rewards. The first is “Weird Science,” which enhances the carrying capacity of Potions and High Potions. The second is “Blacksmith’s Blues II,” a side quest that grants players the blueprint for crafting Excalibur, an immensely powerful weapon at this stage of the game.
Head to Boklad
After completing the aforementioned side quests, return to Laetny’s Cleft to progress the story. Follow the path leading to Boklad. Along the way, players will find themselves ambushed by a bandit group, including the formidable Desert Djinn. Despite its grandiose name, this mini-boss can be easily defeated by evading its attacks and depleting its Will Gauge. Once the bandits have been vanquished, destroy the barricade and press on toward Boklad.
While traversing the Fallen ruins, players will encounter a small group of Fallen constructs guarding the area. These feeble enemies pose little challenge and can be swiftly dispatched, allowing players to continue their ascent and trigger a series of cutscenes. Once the cutscenes conclude, proceed to follow the road leading to Boklad. Upon arrival, the obelisk will activate, granting Final Fantasy 16 players the ability to fast travel to this location in the future.
Continue heading north to initiate a cutscene. Afterward, embark on a search for Goetz. Turn around and veer left, keeping an eye out for Goetz sheltered beneath a canopy, as depicted in the accompanying image. Goetz finds himself in dire straits, having had his trader’s pass stolen. Follow the red waypoint, guiding players toward the Crimson Caravans, to trigger another cutscene. Eloise possesses vital information that can aid in reclaiming the trader’s pass.
To Catch a Thief
To commence this quest, begin by following the red waypoint northward, leading to the furniture maker. Engage in conversation with him before speaking to the fishmonger situated to the left of the plaza. Subsequently, interact with the nearby children. After conversing with two children, proceed southeast out of Boklad in search of Honza. As players draw nearer, a cutscene will be triggered. Return to the Boklad Markets and engage the Chocobo Tamer in conversation, then take a right to access the pen where Honza is attempting to conceal himself. This triggers yet another cutscene, effectively concluding the side quest “To Catch a Thief.”
Blood From the Stones
Following a brief misunderstanding, players will collaborate with Eloise’s brother to locate the Cast Stones. Travel south toward the Steps of the Forgotten. Upon entering the designated red circle, players will engage in combat with a bandit group. Once they have been dispatched, continue southward and eliminate another group. Proceed west following the red waypoint, where players will encounter the group responsible for overseeing the Cast Stones. Dispatch this group to advance the story. To expedite the process, utilize the fast travel feature to return to the Boklad Markets. Speak with Eloise to bring this quest to a close. Thereafter, locate Goetz and return his trader’s pass, initiating yet another cutscene that concludes the current main scenario quest after several cinematic sequences.

Return to the Hideway
While it may seem like a strange thing to do, players will want to go back to the Hideaway once “Onward” begins. The reason for this is because two side quests open up that give players incredible rewards. The first is “Weird Science” which increases how many Potions and High Potions that players can carry. The second is “Blacksmith’s Blues II”. This second side quest gives players the pattern for crafting Excalibur, a weapon that will be a substantial upgrade at this point in the game.
Go to Boklad
After taking care of the side quests mentioned above, head back to Laetny’s Cleft to continue the story. Follow the path toward Boklad. Along the way, players will be ambushed by a group of bandits. One of them is a larger enemy called Desert Djinn. Despite the fancy name, he is just a glorified mini-boss that can be easily beaten as long as players can dodge his attacks and deplete his Will Gauge.
After the bandits are dead, destroy the barricade and continue onward to Boklad. While going through the Fallen ruins, players will be attacked by a small group of Fallen constructs guarding the area. Since they are weak enemies, it won’t take players long to finish them off and continue up the path to trigger a series of cutscenes. Once the cutscenes are over, continue to follow the road to Boklad. Upon arriving at Boklad, the obelisk will activate and Final Fantasy 16 players will be able to fast travel here later.
Keep going north to trigger a cutscene. After that, begin searching the area for Goetz. Turn around and go left. Look for Goetz under a canopy as depicted in the image above. Goetz is in a bad way, as his trader’s pass has been stolen. Follow the red waypoint to go toward the Crimson Caravans to trigger a cutscene. Eloise has information that will help players get the trader’s pass back.
To Catch a Thief
To begin with, follow the red waypoint north toward the furniture maker. After speaking with him, talk to the fishmonger that is left of the plaza. Next, speak to the nearby children. After speaking to two children, go southeast out of Boklad to find Honza. As players get close enough, a cutscene will trigger. Go back toward the Boklad Markets and talk to the Chocobo Tamer and then take a right to get into the pen where Honza is trying to hide. This triggers another cutscene. The side quest “To Catch a Thief” ends at this point.
Blood From the Stones

Upon entering the red circle, players will get into a fight with a group of bandits. After they have been slain, keep going south and kill another group. Follow the red waypoint west. Players will encounter the group leading the Cast Stones. Kill this group to progress the story.
To expedite the process, fast travel back to the Boklad Markets. Speak with Eloise to complete this quest. After that, find Goetz and give him his trader’s pass back. This triggers another cutscene that brings the current main scenario quest to a close after several cutscenes.
