Frederic Forrest, a renowned actor who graced the screens with his remarkable performances in over 80 movies and television shows, has passed away at the age of 86. He is widely known for his exceptional portrayals in two completely distinct films released in the same year, 1979: the romantic drama “The Rose” and the Vietnam War epic “Apocalypse Now.” According to his sister, Ginger Jackson, Forrest succumbed to congestive heart failure and breathed his last on Friday at his residence in Santa Monica, California.

Forrest embarked on his acting journey in the 1960s by showcasing his talent in Off and Off Off Broadway theaters in New York. He gained prominence through his performance in the anti-war rock musical “Viet Rock” in 1966. Subsequently, he moved to Los Angeles in 1970 and landed his first significant film role in “When the Legends Die” (1972), where he played a Ute Indian character. This film proved to be a turning point in his career, marking his arrival as a remarkable actor in Hollywood.
