Friday the 13th Game Has One Last Surprise Before Shutting Down Its Servers

Friday the 13th Game Has One Last Surprise Before Shutting

Gun Interactive, the team behind the popular game Friday the 13th: The Game, has announced that fans can expect a range of in-game rewards before the multiplayer game is removed from sale. Last month, the developers revealed that Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for purchase after December 31, 2023, due to the expiration of the license agreement. However, the game servers will still be operational until the following year.

Friday the 13th: The Game was originally launched in 2017 and is based on the popular 1980s slasher franchise of the same name. Developed by Illfonic, this online 4v1 survival game allows players to team up and face off against the notorious serial killer, Jason Voorhees, as they try to survive a night at Camp Crystal Lake. However, a legal dispute over the ownership of the Friday The 13th IP disrupted Illfonic’s planned content updates, leading to the suspension of production across the entire franchise.

In a surprising move that will surely please fans, Gun Interactive has revealed several in-game perks for all players. In a tweet from the official Friday The 13th Game account, the developer confirmed that starting from July 6, gamers will automatically be boosted to level 150, the maximum level cap for each player. This adjustment aims to reduce reliance on database servers.

In addition to the level boost, players will have access to all the kills from the base game and challenge skulls. Furthermore, all 30 legendary perks from Friday The 13th will be unlocked from the start, and they will no longer have any negative effects. This means that players who aim to complete remaining trophies or achievements won’t have to go through a lengthy grind before the servers shut down permanently.

The news of Friday The 13th: The Game being delisted may disappoint players seeking an alternative to Behaviour Interactive’s Dead By Daylight, but Gun Interactive is ensuring that players can make the most of the game before it disappears from digital storefronts. The team has already permanently reduced the game’s price to $4.99 across all platforms, and accompanying DLC is being sold for $0.99 each.

Meanwhile, Gun Interactive is actively working on developing the next asymmetrical horror game, this time focusing on the iconic Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Developed by Sumo Digital and set for release in August, players will find themselves trying to escape the infamous Leatherface and his family as they are pursued by a team of four players.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
