Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 has become the eighth Bollywood movie to surpass the 300 crore nett mark. The 300 crore milestone was first achieved by Aamir Khan’s PK in 2014, which outperformed his own film “Dhoom 3” (260 crore nett). Salman Khan joined the club with Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and the following year he became the first Bollywood actor with two films that crossed the 300 crore mark with Sultan (2016). Salman achieved another 300 crore grosser with Tiger Zinda Hai, making him the only superstar with three films in this prestigious club.

Aamir Khan broke all records once again with his next release, Dangal, and established the 350 crore club in Bollywood. The film remained unbeaten for over six years until Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan surpassed it in January this year. Pathaan became the first Bollywood film to cross the 400 crore and 500 crore marks. Now, Gadar 2 will be the second Bollywood film to enter the 400 crore club, while reaching 500 crore may be challenging but not impossible.

In the past, Bollywood films had to sell at least 3 crore tickets to enter the coveted 300 crore club when the average ticket price (ATP) ranged from 125-135 Rs. Now, with the ATP exceeding Rs. 200, reaching 300 crore has become easier. Gadar 2 crossed the 300 crore nett mark with an estimated footfall of approximately 1.75-1.80 crores. The question remains, will Gadar 2 enter the 500 crore club and surpass Pathaan? Only time will tell.
