Harry Manfredini Says He’s Working on a New Friday the 13th Video Game

Jason Voorhees is set to make a comeback in the world of video games. In 2017, the famous masked killer made headlines in the gaming world with the release of “Friday the 13th: The Game”. This thrilled fans of the franchise as they had not seen Jason since the 2009 reboot movie. Gun Media, the game’s publisher, has announced that their license for “Friday the 13th” will expire soon, meaning that the game will no longer be available for purchase after 2023.

However, the issues surrounding the rights to “Friday the 13th” have been resolved. Jason will soon appear in a brand-new TV series being developed by Peacock. In addition, we have learned that a new “Friday the 13th” video game is currently in development. The game’s composer, Harry Manfredini, who provided music for most of the “Friday the 13th” movies along with “Friday the 13th: The Game,” announced the news. He revealed that the new game is being developed by a new publisher and development team that is not associated with Gun Media. Manfredini also said that the game will feature more realistic-looking characters and a different gameplay style compared to the previous game. However, it remains unclear whether the new game will be single or multiplayer.

The Peacock series, “Crystal Lake,” is being developed by Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”). It is an origin story for the events of “Friday the 13th” and features the involvement of Adrienne King, who played Alice Hardy in the original movie. No cast members have been announced, but King has been consulting with Fuller on the show’s creative plans.

King announced on Instagram that she had a meeting with Fuller to discuss the upcoming series. She said, “Bryan Fuller, our bloody brilliant Head Counselor/Producer of Crystal Lake, and I had another exciting meeting filling me on what’s in store for us at Camp Blood! Always a joy & can’t wait until I’m able to share some details!”

While the release date for “Crystal Lake” has not been announced, fans are eagerly awaiting news about the new video game. Hopefully, Manfredini will provide more details soon.

Jason Voorhees isn’t finished with the video game world just yet. Back in 2017, the masked killer made a big mark in video games with the release of Friday the 13th: The Game. It was an exciting time for gamers who were fans of the franchise, as it was the first they had seen of Jason since the reboot movie was released in 2009. The game’s publisher, Gun Media, recently announced that their license for Friday the 13th will soon expire, and the game will no longer be for sale after 2023.

The issues with the Friday the 13th rights appear to have been resolved, as Jason will return in an all-new TV series in the works at Peacock. Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that a new Friday the 13th video game is also in the works. The news was broken by franchise composer Harry Manfredini, who provided music for most of the Friday the 13th movies along with Friday the 13th: The Game. While at the special Crystal Lake Reunion event in New Jersey, where the original movie was filmed, Manfredini spoke with Rely on Horror about his work on the previous video game.

During the conversation, Manfredini is also said to have revealed that he’s working on a new game that has yet to be officially announced. Not very much has been revealed about the game, though it will be from a new publisher and development team without the involvement of Gun Media. Manfredini also says this new game will feature “more realistic-looking” characters and that it will have a different gameplay style compared to the asymmetrical multiplayer experience that was Friday the 13th: The Game. With that said, it’s unclear if this new game will be single or multiplayer.

There’s a little more that’s known about Jason’s arrival on the small screen for the Peacock series Crystal Lake. The show is in development from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and has been described as an origin story for the events of Friday the 13th. No cast members have been announced, but the project includes the involvement of Adrienne King, who portrayed original final girl Alice Hardy. It’s not clear if King will have an on-screen role in the series, but she has been consulting with Fuller on the show’s creative plans.

Posting an image of herself with Fuller to Instagram in March, King told her followers, “Happy Friday Campers! Bryan Fuller, our bloody brilliant Head Counselor/ Producer of Crystal Lakethe upcoming series & I had another exciting meeting filling me on what’s in store for us at Camp Blood! Always a joy & can’t wait until I’m able [to] share some details!”

Crystal Lake doesn’t yet have a release date. As for the new video game, fans will have to wait for more details to be officially announced, which will hopefuly come soon with Manfredini letting the cat out of the bag.
