Hoda Kotb denied 6-year-old daughter’s crop top request
Hoda Kotb, the host of “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” shared on Monday’s episode that her six-year-old daughter Haley wants to wear a midriff. Kotb explained that her daughter was walking around with her shirt “pulled up halfway,” and when asked what she was doing, Haley giggled and said, “Nothing.” Her co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, acknowledged that Kotb was in a “hard” position because crop tops are what teenage girls are wearing. Kotb said that while she likes giving her children options and the ability to make choices, she has accepted that sometimes it’s necessary to say no. Although Haley doesn’t even know any teenage girls, she sees them out in public and maybe even at school. Kotb is also mom to three-year-old daughter Hope, whom she shares with ex-fiance Joel Schiffman. In February, Hope was hospitalized, and Kotb took a two-week leave of absence from the NBC morning show to care for her. Kotb said her little girl was “doing better,” but she still had a “long road” ahead of her.

The “Today with Hoda & Jenna” star revealed during Monday’s episode that her daughter Haley “wants to wear a midriff.”
“A crop top?” her shocked co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, asked, which Kotb confirmed.
The “This Just Speaks to Me” author explained that Haley was recently walking around with her shirt “pulled up halfway.”
“I go, ‘What are you doing?’” Kotb recalled. “She’s like, ‘Nothing.’ And she’s giggling out of her mind!”
Hager acknowledged her co-anchor was in a “hard” position “because that is what the teenage girls are wearing.”

Though Kotb insisted Haley “doesn’t even know any teenage girls,” Hager reminded her that “she sees them” out in public and maybe even at school.
“It’s weird!” Kotb said of her daughter’s outfit request, prompting Hager, 41, to ask how she responded to it.
“I said no,” the 58-year-old replied. “‘No, no, we’re not doing that.’”

Kobt, who is also mom to 3-year-old daughter Hope, explained, “I often wrestle with making your kid feel in charge and in control, and then saying no.”

Hope was hospitalized in February, forcing the NBC morning show personality to take a two-week leave of absence.
Though she has kept the details surrounding her youngest child’s “really scary” situation to herself, Kotb told viewers upon her tearful return to “Today” that Hope had been hospitalized for “more than a week” and in the ICU “for a few” of those days.
When TheFantasyTimes caught up with the broadcast journalist last month, she said her little girl was “doing better” but admitted that she still had a “long road” ahead of her.
