How to Beat Captain Ezmin (Stronghold Boss Guide)
In the realm of Diablo IV, the Onyx Watchtower in the Dry Steppes is similar to other Strongholds. However, players can only clear it by defeating Captain Ezmin, a dangerous bandit leader who serves as the boss. Overcoming this formidable opponent and clearing out the Stronghold will unlock new side quests and provide players with a convenient Waypoint to explore the area. However, players should be prepared, as Captain Ezmin has a few tricks up their sleeve that can make this fight quite challenging.
Among the three Strongholds located in the Dry Steppes of Diablo 4, the Onyx Watchtower can be found near the small village of Kel Bardua in the northern part of the region. This once mighty fortress was once occupied by brave warriors who fought against the armies of Hell. However, it was eventually taken over by ruthless bandits led by Captain Ezmin. To face the boss in the Watchtower, players must first defeat all of Captain Ezmin’s forces, including his skilled lieutenants.
To successfully defeat Captain Ezmin in Diablo 4, players are advised to utilize movement skills and abilities to maintain mobility within the boss arena. This is crucial because the bandit leader will attempt to turn invisible and throw bombs to catch the player off guard. These small explosives can impair the player’s vision, darkening a significant portion of the screen upon impact. Fortunately, Captain Ezmin’s attacks are limited to simple melee strikes without any other gimmicks. Players can evade the fire bombs by using their Evade skill to dodge the small red circles that appear on the ground moments before the projectiles explode.
During the battle, Captain Ezmin may summon additional bandits when his health is reduced, potentially overwhelming unprepared players. Employing crowd control skills can greatly ease this fight, especially when Ezmin escalates his bomb-throwing attacks at lower health. It is important to note that players cannot damage Ezmin while he is invisible, making it an opportune time to swiftly eliminate any rallied bandits. Emerging victorious against Ezmin will enable players to activate a nearby Wanderer’s Shrine, transforming the Onyx Watchtower into a safe haven. The area where the boss fight took place will now become a dungeon, and the character will gain 120 Renown for the Dry Steppes.
Furthermore, those who conquer Captain Ezmin in this Stronghold will gain access to one of the many Altar of Lilith locations in Diablo IV. These altars provide permanent stat upgrades to characters in the region.
