“I Don’t Believe In Wearing Clothes Once,” Says Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor states, “To me, possessing a product that lasts long is a luxury. In the past, my mother and grandmother would preserve expensive saris in muslin cloth, tailors would create custom-made outfits, and shoes would be crafted to fit our feet. I am also following the same practice.”
She adds, “Therefore, you can see that I grew up appreciating the value of personalization and handmade products. This, to me, is the epitome of luxury. I consciously purchase items made by local artisans, vintage pieces, and even second-hand items.”
Sonam Kapoor further emphasizes, “I haven’t bought anything that I haven’t worn multiple times. Every item I purchase must be wearable for several years. I don’t believe in wearing something once and then returning it, unless it’s a borrowed outfit for a specific event.”

Back in the day, my mother and grandmother would preserve expensive saris in a mal mal (muslin) cloth, masterji (tailor) would create made-to-measure outfits, and juttis (shoes) would be created to fit our feet. I’m also doing the same.“
She adds, “So, you see, I grew up appreciating the value of personalisation and the handmade. This, to me, is a true luxury. I consciously buy items that are made by local artisans, are vintage, and are even resold.”
Sonam Kapoor further says, “I haven’t bought anything that I haven’t worn multiple times. For me, everything that I buy needs to be wearable for several years. I don’t believe in wearing it once and then returning it unless I’m borrowing an outfit for an event.”
