Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali won’t be playing for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced before the toss.
Ajinkya Rahane and Dwaine Pretorius have been brought in to fill the pair’s absence owing to injuries. Moreover, the four-time winner added Sisanda Magala to its playing 11.
Rohit Sharma, the captain, said that Jofra Archer would not play for the Indians either. Tristan Stubbs of South Africa took Archer’s place in the starting 11.
Chennai chose to bowl after winning the toss.
Chennai began its IPL 2023 campaign with a defeat to the Gujarat Titans before eking out a slim victory over the Lucknow Super Giants. In its opening game, Mumbai was defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight wickets.
