J Jonah Jameson Becomes Spider Man in New Spider Verse Hero HEADLINE

Caution: Preview for Edge of Spider-Verse #4 ahead! The Daily Bugle‘s very own J. Jonah Jameson has become a Spider-Verse hero with his new alter ego, Headline. The Spider-Verse is home to numerous variations of the beloved Marvel hero Spider-Man. However, it encompasses more than just different versions of Peter Parker. It is a multiverse that has witnessed various individuals from diverse backgrounds donning the mask, including Miles Morales, Cindy Moon, Anya Corazon, Hobie Brown, Gwen Stacy, and many others. This has paved the way for anyone to have a chance at swinging through the streets to save the day, even a surprising character who dedicated his life to exposing the webhead.

In a preview for Edge of Spider-Verse #4, the anthology showcases three distinct Spider-People from across the multiverse, including Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man‘s Dream-Spider and the former Spider-Girl, Araña. However, the second story by Daniel Kibblesmith and ChrisCross introduces a fascinating new Spider-Hero into the Web of Life. None other than J. Jonah Jameson has assumed the mantle, adopting the name Headline to combat crime with a focus on news reporting. Take a glimpse at Headline and the other featured heroes in this issue:

J. Jonah Jameson’s Spider Persona Is Absolutely Perfect

The overall design for J. Jonah Jameson’s Headline aligns perfectly with his character. He even seems embarrassed to be a Spider-Hero, as he describes himself as “the idiot in the clown suit.” Consequently, he goes to great lengths to differentiate himself from Spider-Man, making wild modifications to his costume, such as a cape made entirely out of Daily Bugle newspapers. Moreover, his actions are completely in line with his persona, as he speaks like a reporter while fighting crime, striving to get the scoop. The signature mustache, fully exposed from his half-mask, beautifully ties it all together.

Headline is an Interesting Evolution for J. Jonah Jameson

It is astounding to witness the tremendous growth of J. Jonah Jameson since his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #1. He was consistently portrayed as the civilian adversary to Spider-Man, tirelessly working to depict the hero as a menace to New York. However, over the years, he has developed a softer side within the Marvel universe, even lending support to Silk during her confrontation with a Korean witch. Now, he is officially part of the Spider-Verse, with his splendid suit showcased in a Tweet by artist ChrisCross, revealing the complete design of his Headline attire. J. Jonah Jameson has truly come full circle, transforming from a Spider-Man detractor to a Spider-Hero himself.

Fans can witness Headline in action when Edge of Spider-Verse #4 arrives at comic stands on July 5. This issue is not to be missed, as it serves as a sequel to the chilling Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man series and provides further insight into Araña’s world. However, the spotlight of the anthology undoubtedly belongs to J. Jonah Jameson‘s new Spider-Verse persona, Headline, as he transforms into the very thing he aimed to destroy for years and becomes the latest hero empowered with spider abilities.
