Joe Manganiello files for divorce from Sofía Vergara
Joe Manganiello has officially filed for divorce from Sofía Vergara just two days after the couple announced their separation.
According to TMZ, Manganiello cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The court documents also confirmed that the exes had a prenuptial agreement in place, which means that they will each keep their own assets accumulated during their marriage.
TheFantasyTimes first broke the news on July 17 that Vergara and Manganiello had decided to end their seven-year marriage.
In an exclusive joint statement, the actors said, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
An insider revealed that the couple had been growing apart for a while and needed some distance to think about their future.
Following the separation announcement, rumors began to circulate about the reasons behind the split.
One source claimed that Manganiello’s decision to get sober had put a strain on their marriage, as Vergara still drank alcohol at social events.
However, another insider insisted that Vergara had been supportive of her estranged husband’s sobriety.
There were also signs leading up to the separation announcement that indicated trouble in their relationship.
In August 2022, Vergara attended a wedding without Manganiello as her date.
They had also put their Beverly Hills villa on the market but later re-listed it with a reduced price.
Vergara had been spending more time without Manganiello, including a girls’ trip to Italy where she posted pictures of herself in a swimsuit.

Rumors then began to circulate about what else had torn the once madly in love “Modern Family” alum and “Magic Mike” star apart.
A source previously claimed to the Daily Mail that Manganiello’s decision to get sober had impacted his marriage since Vergara still indulged in booze at social occasions.
However, a separate insider insisted at the time that the “America’s Got Talent” judge “could not have been more supportive” of her estranged husband’s sobriety.
Leading up to the separation announcement, there were several signs that there was trouble in paradise.
In August 2022, Vergara attended her former co-star Sarah Hyland’s wedding to “Bachelorette” alum Wells Adams without Manganiello as her date.
The “Hot Pursuit” star and the “True Blood” alum also placed their Italian-style Beverly Hills, Calif., villa on the market that same year.
They then briefly stopped selling it before re-listing it with a reduced price tag in May.
Vergara also seemed to be spending a lot more time without Manganiello in recent months, including going on a girls’ trip to Italy, where she posted sizzling shots of herself in a skimpy swimsuit.
The “Spider-Man” actor also wished the Colombian beauty a happy birthday in July with a social media post that many perceived to be cold and suspicious.
“Am I the only one who doesn’t like the way it sounds? ‘ Sofia’…. not even ‘ My love, My beloved wife’ …. 🤦♀️,” commented one fan at the time.
Another added, “What a cold greeting 🥶, not a drop of love expressed Joe Manganiello.”

Vergara and Manganiello met through the actress’ former co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014.
The “Bent” star was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb at the time, but the Pittsburgh-born actor asked for her number as soon as that relationship ended.
Vergara and Manganiello then tied the knot in a lavish Palm Beach, Fla., ceremony in November 2015 in front of 400 guests, including many Hollywood stars such as Reese Witherspoon and Channing Tatum.
The estranged couple do not have any kids together. Vergara has a 31-year-old son named Manolo from her first marriage to Joe Gonzalez.
