Kevin Costner can’t afford child support without ‘Yellowstone’
Kevin Costner has stated that he is unable to meet his estranged wife’s high child support demands now that he is no longer part of the popular show “Yellowstone.”
Christine Baumgartner is requesting $248,000 per month from Costner, but the actor claims that she has an inaccurate understanding of his financial situation.
In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Costner, 68, explained, “I will earn significantly less in 2023 compared to 2022. This is because I am no longer under contract for Yellowstone, which was my main source of income last year.”
Paramount Network announced in May that the show “Yellowstone” would be ending after its fifth season.
Costner, who played the role of John Dutton since the show’s premiere in 2018, argues in the court documents that Baumgartner’s assessment of his finances is inaccurate, as his earnings can vary significantly each year.
Costner describes Baumgartner’s six-figure request as “astonishing” and states that he cannot afford to pay such amounts while also covering his living and business expenses without selling assets.

The actor, known for his role in “Hidden Figures,” shares three children, Cayden (16), Hayden (14), and Grace (13), with Baumgartner. He also mentioned that the model acknowledged that the upcoming year would be financially difficult.
Baumgartner, 49, filed for divorce from Costner in May after being married for 18 years. The divorce quickly turned contentious, with the Academy Award-winning actor accusing Baumgartner of refusing to move out of their shared home.
In response, Baumgartner claimed that Costner had no legal grounds to evict her from their home. However, a month later, she agreed to move out on the condition that he provide her with additional financial support, leading to her request for nearly $250,000 per month in child support.
Costner further alleged that Baumgartner intends to use the substantial child support payment for her own plastic surgery rather than for the benefit of their children.
Shortly after the dispute escalated, Baumgartner was seen leaving town with her children, presumably to escape the ongoing divorce drama.

Baumgartner, 49, filed for divorce from Costner in early May after 18 years of marriage. The split quickly became acrimonious, with the Oscar-winning actor claiming Baumgartner was refusing to move out of their marital home.
The former TV host fired back claiming Costner had no “legal basis” to evict her — but a month later agreed to move out only if he agreed to cough up more money — leading to her nearly $250,000 monthly payday request.
The “Dances With Wolves” star claimed her enormous child support payment would go toward her plastic surgery — not the children.
Shortly thereafter, Baumgartner was photographed with her kids skipping town, presumably to escape the divorce drama.
