Kevin Federline wants Britney Spears to increase child support
Kevin Federline is seeking an increase in child support payments from Britney Spears now that their children are living with him full-time. According to TMZ, Federline, a former backup dancer, is considering taking the matter to court. Currently, he receives $40,000 per month in child support, which is based on a 50/50 custody arrangement. However, their two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have been living exclusively with Federline for several years and recently relocated to Hawaii with him. It’s worth noting that Sean Preston will turn 18 soon, which will reduce Spears’ required payments by half. Sources say that support for Jayden will continue until he graduates high school in 2025. TheFantasyTimes reached out to Federline’s representative for comment but has not received a response yet.
Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, previously confirmed that the teens had been in contact with their mother as recently as July. This update comes after reports that Preston and Jayden had cut off communication with Spears last year. A “TMZ Investigates” episode titled “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom” revealed that the boys had stopped responding to their mother’s texts by the end of the summer of 2022 due to escalating tensions. Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007.
Federline recently moved his sons to Hawaii. He publicly stated that Preston and Jayden had chosen not to see Spears or attend her wedding to Sam Asghari because of the intense media scrutiny following the end of her conservatorship in November 2021. “It’s been tough. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life,” he said at the time. Spears went on to marry Sam Asghari in 2022.
TheFantasyTimes previously reported that Spears had agreed not to prevent her sons from leaving California. In a letter obtained by the publication, her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, stated that Spears would not interfere with the relocation. The Grammy winner later expressed her love for both Preston and Jayden on social media, referring to her eldest son as her “first love” and sharing pictures of her youngest when he was a toddler. Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023.
Spears and Federline were married from October 2004 to July 2007. They welcomed their sons in September 2005 and September 2006 before ending their marriage. Spears went on to marry Asghari in June 2022, but he filed for divorce in August.
Kevin Federline wants Britney Spears to cough up the big bucks now that their children live with him full-time.
The former backup dancer is contemplating going to court to ask for an increase in his $40,000-a-month child support payments from the pop star, TMZ reported Monday.
The outlet noted that the amount Federline, 45, currently receives is predicated on each parent having the kids 50 percent of the time.
However, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, have been living entirely with their father for the past several years and even relocated to Hawaii with him last month.
Notably, the former couple’s eldest son turns 18 Thursday, thus cutting Spears’ required payments in half.
Sources told TMZ that support for Jayden is expected to remain intact until he graduates high school in June 2025.
TheFantasyTimes reached out to Federline’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

His attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, previously told us that the teens had communicated with their mother as recently as July.
The positive update came after reports that Preston and Jayden had cut off all communication with Spears, 41, last year.
The “TMZ Investigates” episode “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom,” which aired in May, claimed that “by the end of the summer [of 2022], tensions got so bad that the boys weren’t even responding to [their mom’s] texts.”

Federline, for his part, publicly alleged that Preston and Jayden had “made the decision” to not see the “Toxic” singer or attend her wedding to her now-estranged husband, Sam Asghari, because of the intense media scrutiny following the end of her conservatorship in November 2021.
