Lil Kim’s heavily edited Ebony cover befuddles fans

Fans are expressing confusion and disappointment regarding Lil Kim’s recent cover for Ebony magazine, which appears to be heavily edited. The cover, one of five celebrating 50 years of hip-hop, features the “Crush on You” rapper seated in a pink silk gown, wearing a gold crown on her head and matching jewelry on her knuckles. However, upon the release of the cover on Twitter, many social media users questioned the excessive use of Photoshop on the 49-year-old Grammy winner’s face and body.

One fan tweeted, “This retouch is so poorly done, I thought it was AI. Someone please tell me it is. Quickly.” Another fan wrote, “Now Ebony knows they deserve criticism. Why did they make Kimberly look like an artificial intelligence?” Getty Images Another user added, “The entire staff should be held accountable.” A third user expressed their confusion by stating, “Whoever edited this was using Facetune like crazy,” while a fourth fan joked, “They edited this picture like the Navy edits their photos.”

Twitter users also compared Lil Kim’s appearance in the picture to that of a “porcelain doll” and even North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The rapper’s ever-changing looks have been a topic of discussion for years. In a 2005 interview with Angie Martinez, Lil Kim candidly revealed that she underwent plastic surgery after experiencing physical abuse from her ex-boyfriend. She admitted to having her nose done multiple times due to the injuries she sustained.

“I have experienced black eyes, bloody lips, and a bruised nose. I came out of the hospital after getting my nose done, and he broke it again,” she shared. “I have had to undergo MRIs because he beat me up so badly that I couldn’t even move.” The “Lady Marmalade” performer revealed that she had to wear a cast on her face to support her broken nose, which had been severely damaged. Getty Images She added, “The doctor had to fix my nose because it was almost shattered.”

Lil Kim has been open about her various surgeries and her struggle with low self-esteem. In a 2000 interview with Newsweek, she admitted, “I have always had low self-esteem. Men would always cheat on me with women who had a more European appearance, long hair, and all that. Being a regular black girl wasn’t enough.” She also confessed that her breast implants were the most painful experience she had ever endured but emphasized that it was her choice to alter her body to achieve the desired look.
