On Sunday, Mayim Bialik shared a rare photo of her 17-year-old son enjoying a lazy day with their black and white cat. In the Instagram post, the “Jeopardy!” host, 47, captioned the image, admiring their pet’s outstretched claws and her son’s relaxed demeanor. Although Miles’ face is obstructed by his cellphone, the teen can be seen patting the cat with his other hand. He is dressed casually in khakis, a navy blue hoodie and black-frame glasses.
Bialik shares Miles and younger son Frederick, 14, with her ex-husband, Michael Stone, to whom she was married for 10 years before divorcing in 2013. Despite the split, the former couple remains on good terms and co-parent their children. In 2018, the “Big Bang Theory” star spent Thanksgiving with Stone and his girlfriend.
While Bialik is not one to frequently share content of her kids online, she did post a photo of one of her sons during a family trip to Disneyland last August. She has also discussed the hardships of motherhood, particularly the competitiveness she has encountered among other mothers.
“These were not my people. I left in tears. Moms are so competitive! Why is that? Is it because we’re just catty and combative by nature? Is it because we’re bored and we have nothing better to do?” she asked in a Facebook video in 2017.
The Emmy nominee has also faced criticism for her parenting style, particularly her decision to breastfeed her younger son until he was four years old. Despite the backlash, Bialik remains firm in her belief that there is no one “right” way to parent and that each family should be free to make their own choices.

But Bialik gave a guess as to why mothers tend to face off against each other.
“I think that competition comes about because we are the first generation of women who were raised after the revolutionary turmoil of the women’s movement and we’re the first generation who was constitutionally raised to believe that we can and should do it all,” she said.
The Emmy nominee has also had to deal with mom-shamers, as she faced backlash for breastfeeding her younger son until he was 4 because she waited until he self-weaned.
She shared that she cried from the outpouring of judgment she received.
“People laughed and sneered, but it wasn’t wrong,” Bialik told InTouch Weekly (via HuffPost) in 2014.
“Just because you do something your way doesn’t mean you can judge people who don’t. … I don’t think I’m a better mom, and my kids aren’t necessarily better off than yours.”
