“Mercurial and Witty,” Rachel Zegler on Her Character in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Rachel Zegler takes on the lead role in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Zegler is renowned for her captivating singing voice and remarkable acting talent, but as she ventures into a beloved franchise for the very first time, will she emerge triumphant?
Rachel is all set to portray the character of Lucy Gray Baird in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Zegler opens up about bringing this character to life, alongside esteemed actors Viola Davis and Peter Dinklage, as well as Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, Josh Anders Rivera, and Jason Schwartzman, as the film hits theaters on November 17th.
When discussing her character, Rachel Zegler stated, “The words that come to mind are ‘mercurial’ and ‘witty’. The way I approached Lucy Gray was that she prioritizes her family, friends, and herself above all else. That’s why her relationship with Coriolanus is so intriguing. Through the lyrics of her songs, we get a sense that she has been mistreated by many individuals, particularly men. Therefore, she is hesitant to trust and challenges Snow to meet her level of intimidation.”
She added, “Lucy Gray begins to comprehend the significance of prioritizing others’ needs before her own, and she lives with her whole heart. However, when she starts to notice traits in Coriolanus that may be untrustworthy, she must prioritize herself and make impossible decisions.”
