*NSYNC teases first new song in 20 years in ‘Trolls’ trailer
The band is reuniting once again. *NSYNC has recently recorded their first new song in more than 20 years for the upcoming DreamWorks film “Trolls Band Together.” The trailer for the children’s movie was released on Thursday, confirming the long-speculated reunion of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Lance Bass in the studio for a track called “Better Place.” The full song, which is previewed in the trailer, will be available on streaming platforms on September 29. Timberlake, who was the first member of the band to pursue a solo career in 2002, lends his voice to the character Branch in the “Trolls” movie franchise. The 42-year-old singer, known for his hit song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” in the first “Trolls” movie in 2016, will also have a surprise role in the third installment of the franchise, set to be released on November 17, according to a source from “Entertainment Tonight.” *NSYNC is making its official comeback with a new song after more than two decades.
The reunion was initially hinted in March when Troye Sivan’s character, Floyd, mentioned to Branch, “We’re out of sync”, in a different trailer. Floyd added, “We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets,” making a reference to iconic boy bands Boyz II Men, One Direction, and the Backstreet Boys. Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Justin Timberlake’s “Better Place” will be released later this month.
Chasez, 47, said on stage at the awards ceremony, “Over 20 years ago, we were here when we won Best Pop Video for ‘Bye Bye Bye’. It was our first VMA, and it meant the world to us.” Swift, 33, who won Best Pop Video at the awards, was shocked by the reunion. She joked that she was struggling to transition from being a fan of the band to giving an acceptance speech. “I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something, and I need to know what it is,” she speculated. The song will be featured in “Trolls Band Together,” which will be released in theaters in November.
Kirkpatrick, 51, added, “That award validated our hard work.” The group previously had a brief reunion in 2013 when they joined Timberlake on stage at the VMAs to celebrate his receipt of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Their last single, “Girlfriend,” was released in 2002 as part of their third and final studio album, “Celebrity.” Chasez and Timberlake pursued solo careers after the band’s hiatus, but all five members have remained on good terms, even reuniting in 2018 for the unveiling of their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
