*NSYNC to reunite for ‘Trolls Band Together’ soundtrack: report
Once again, *NSYNC is making a comeback. According to sources, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Lance Bass have reunited to create new music for the upcoming installment of the “Trolls” film series, titled “Trolls Band Together”. An insider revealed that the iconic boy band will not only release a new song for the movie but also have surprise roles in the animated musical comedy, set to release in theaters on November 17th. The trailer for “Trolls Band Together” seems to hint at the much-anticipated reunion, with one character, Floyd, played by Troye Sivan, telling Timberlake’s character, Branch, “We’re out of sync”. Floyd’s statement also references other popular groups like Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys.
TheFantasyTimes has reached out to representatives for Timberlake, Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick, and Bass for confirmation but has not received an immediate response. Universal Studios and DreamWorks Animation, the movie’s respective distributor and production company, have also not responded to requests for comment. If confirmed, this would mark the first musical project by *NSYNC in over two decades. Their last single, “Girlfriend,” was released in 2002 as part of their fourth and final studio album, “Celebrity”. The latest “Trolls” installment is set to hit theaters on November 17th.
After parting ways with *NSYNC, Timberlake went on to have a successful solo career, with chart-topping albums and hits. His songs, including “Cry Me a River” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the first “Trolls” movie’s soundtrack, have been hugely popular. While the members of *NSYNC have made a few public appearances together since their split, their devoted fandom has always been delighted to see them reunite.
In August 2013, they performed with Timberlake at the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, NY. Five years later, the group reunited in Los Angeles to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, although Timberlake was absent. In 2019, *NSYNC surprised fans at Coachella for a performance of their hit song “Tearin’ Up My Heart” alongside Ariana Grande, who filled in for Timberlake.
Formed in 1995, *NSYNC went on to sell over 70 million records, solidifying their place in music history. Over the years, there have been speculations that Timberlake’s solo success may have hindered a reunion of the band. However, Kirkpatrick revealed exclusively to TheFantasyTimes in October 2022 that it was actually another member, Chasez, who was hesitant to return to the spotlight. Kirkpatrick mentioned that Chasez had a “bad taste” in his mouth from a previous experience and was unwilling to release new music. If the rumors about “Trolls Band Together” are true, it seems that Chasez’s reluctance has finally subsided.
Here we go … one more time?
*NSYNC has reportedly gotten back together to create new music for the latest installment of the “Trolls” film franchise.
Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass are set to release a new song for the upcoming movie “Trolls Band Together,” a source told “Entertainment Tonight” Friday.
The insider also claimed that all five members of the iconic boy band are “expected to have surprise roles” in the animated musical comedy, due out in theaters Nov. 17.
A trailer for “Trolls Band Together” appears to tease the rumored reunion, with one character Floyd, played by Troye Sivan, telling Timberlake’s character, Branch, “We’re out of sync” in the clip.
“We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets,” he adds, seemingly also referencing groups Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys.
TheFantasyTimes has reached out to reps for Timberlake, Chasez, Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Bass for confirmation but did not immediately hear back.
Universal Studios and DreamWorks Animation, the respective distributor and production company for the movie, also did not immediately return requests for comment.
This would be the first time in more than two decades that *NSYNC has put out a musical project. Their last single, “Girlfriend,” off of their fourth and final studio album, “Celebrity,” was released in 2002.

Since *NSYNC parted ways, however, the “Bye, Bye, Bye” singers have made a few public appearances together, much to the amusement of their devoted fandom.

In August 2013, they performed with Timberlake, now 42, at the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, NY.
Five years later, the pop group reunited in Los Angeles to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
*NSYNC, minus Timberlake, then surprised fans at Coachella in 2019 for a rendition of their hit “Tearin’ Up My Heart” alongside Ariana Grande, who stepped in for the “Sexyback” singer.

Over the years, many have speculated that perhaps Timberlake’s success is part of the reason *NSYNC has not reunited sooner, but Kirkpatrick, 51, told TheFantasyTimes exclusively in October 2022 that another member was hesitant to get back into the spotlight.
The “Big Brother” alum said of Chasez, 47, at the time, “I don’t know if there was a bad taste in his mouth from his first record or what, but I know that there’s a bad taste in his mouth from something, and he just won’t put [new music] out no matter what.”
If the rumblings about “Trolls Band Together” are true, Chasez’s cold feet may have finally gone away.
