Octavia Spencer defends Britney Spears after Sam Asghari prenup warning
Octavia Spencer, the Oscar-winning actress, has once again expressed her support for Britney Spears amidst the news of Sam Asghari attempting to renegotiate their prenuptial agreement. In response to TheFantasyTimes’s report about Asghari threatening to reveal embarrassing information about Britney unless he is compensated, Spencer took to Instagram to share her opinion. The 53-year-old actress commented on a social media post, stating that extortion is illegal.
This recent development comes almost two years after Spencer advised Britney to have Asghari sign a prenup. The actress’s warning resurfaced online following the news of Asghari filing for divorce from Spears after 14 months of marriage. Spencer had previously commented on Britney’s engagement announcement, urging her to protect her assets. However, she later claimed that it was meant as a joke and apologized to the couple privately for any pain caused.
Spears’ fans have been through a lot with her, especially during her 13-year conservatorship, which ended recently. Spencer acknowledged this and expressed her happiness for Britney’s newfound joy. She called for positivity and love towards the couple, emphasizing the importance of supporting them. Asghari accepted Spencer’s apology graciously, stating that jokes and misconceptions are part of the territory.
Interestingly, Asghari had previously joked on Instagram Stories about getting an iron-clad prenup to protect his possessions, including his jeep and shoe collection. However, as the divorce battle unfolds with allegations of infidelity and violence, Asghari broke his silence on Instagram, announcing the end of their journey together. He expressed his love and respect for Britney and wished her the best.
Asghari’s representative also clarified that there was no negative intention towards Britney and that there never will be. On the other hand, Britney has remained silent about the breakup but appears unaffected on Instagram, sharing posts about buying a horse and analyzing artwork.
Nearly two years after telling Britney Spears to make Sam Asghari “sign a prenup,” Octavia Spencer is still in the Princess of Pop’s corner.
The actress took to Instagram to share her opinion on TheFantasyTimes’s reporting that Asghari is attempting to renegotiate his prenup — and “threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”
The Oscar winner, 53, commented on a Wednesday social media upload sharing the allegation, noting that “extortion is illegal.”
After news broke earlier that same day of Asghari filing for divorce from Spears after 14 months of marriage, Spencer’s September 2021 warning to the “Gimme More” singer resurfaced online.

At the time, Spears revealed her engagement ring via Instagram and told her Instagram followers that Asghari, 29, had proposed after nearly five years of dating.
“make him sign a prenup,” Spencer commented on the announcement.
After the remark went viral, the “Hidden Figures” star walked it back and claimed that she had only been making a “joke.”

She apologized, writing, “My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.
“Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness,” Spencer continued, referencing Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, which came to an end two months later. “We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love. #nonegativity.”
Asghari accepted the Golden Globe winner’s apology with a playful comment.

“You are very kind to clarify but i have no hard feelings whatsoever,” the fitness trainer wrote. “Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory.”

Notably, he had previously joked via Instagram Stories with those “concerned about the prenup,” writing, “Of course we’re getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
As the estranged couple’s divorce battle rages — with reports via TMZ of Spears allegedly cheating with a staff member and punching her partner in his sleep — Asghari broke his silence Thursday.

“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” the model-turned-actor wrote on his Story. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S–t happens.”
His rep also addressed his reported prenup challenges in a statement to E! News, claiming, “No negative intention has ever been directed towards [Spears] and never will be.”
The “Crossroads” star, for her part, has yet to directly comment on the breakup but appears unbothered on Instagram, posting about “buying a horse” and analyzing artwork.
