‘People take it so personally’
Mindy Kaling has decided to discontinue discussing her weight loss, as she feels that people are taking it too personally.
In an interview with Allure published on Tuesday, the former “Office” star was asked if she had a message for those who felt that they had lost an advocate for body inclusivity after she lost over 40 pounds.
Kaling, who is 44 years old, immediately declined to discuss the topic, stating, “It’s not particularly exciting for me to talk about my body and how it’s scrutinized.
“So I think I’m just not going to delve into it because unfortunately, it dominates the conversation and people take it so personally,” she added before the interviewer moved on to ask about her children.
Kaling recently acknowledged that she is the “healthiest she has been in years” after losing weight.
“That’s a pretty amazing gift, isn’t it?” she shared on Instagram alongside a photo of her 5-year-old daughter Katherine and her 2-year-old son Spencer last month.

However, this is not the first time the actress has acknowledged the extensive commentary surrounding her changing physique.
“I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it’s flattering. Sometimes it’s just a little overwhelming, so I try not to pay too much attention to it,” she told People in May.
Instead, she discussed the amount of “time and energy” she is devoting to “trying to be healthy.”

“I simply tell myself that I have to do at least 20 miles a week of either hiking or running. And that has been incredibly beneficial for me,” she told the outlet.
In fact, Kaling mentioned that these days, she “basically lives” in workout clothes and has made fitness a “major commitment” in her life.

“It’s challenging with two kids, but I wake up really early and make time for it,” she continued.
“I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something I’ve been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately … I feel great.”

Mindy Kaling is done talking about her weight loss, saying people are taking it “so personally.”
During an interview with Allure published Tuesday, the “Office” alum was asked if she had anything to say to people who felt they’ve lost “an ally” in the body inclusivity movement after she shed more than 40 pounds.
Kaling, 44, immediately shut it down, saying, “It’s not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it’s analyzed.
“So I think I’m just not going to get into it because it takes over the conversation unfortunately and people take it so personally,” she added before the interviewer moved on to ask about her children.
Kaling recently noted she was the “healthiest [she has] been in years” after losing weight.
“That’s a pretty damn good gift, right?” she shared via Instagram alongside a photo of her daughter, Katherine, 5, and her son, Spencer, 2, last month.

However, this isn’t the first time the actress has acknowledged the extensive commentary around her changing figure.
“I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it’s flattering. Sometimes it’s just a little much, so I don’t try to tune it in too much,” she told People in May.
She, instead, talked about how much “time and energy” she is putting into “trying to be healthy.”

“I just tell myself I have to do basically 20 miles a week of either hiking or running. And so that’s been incredibly helpful to me,” she told the outlet.

“It’s hard with two kids [but] I wake up really early and I fit it in,” she went on.
“I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I’ve been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately … I feel great.”

On top of that, the “Sex Lives of College Girls” creator — who has flaunted her fit figure at the Oscars and on the Met Gala red carpet — got even more candid about her other weight loss strategies.
“I eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it,” Kaling told Entertainment Tonight in April 2022.
“I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but that’s the way I’ve done it.”
