Pokemon Fan Recreates Iconic Meme in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games have been a source of countless memes since their release, but a fan has managed to recreate a popular image from the Generation 9 games thanks to the recent compatibility of Pokemon HOME. With the introduction of numerous new Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the total number of creatures in the Pokemon universe now exceeds 1,000. However, the ability to transfer between Pokemon HOME allows fans to reunite with many old favorites.

As the highest-grossing media franchise of all time, Pokemon has generated countless memes over the years. From the games to the anime, and even the Pokemon themselves, there seems to be no shortage of images and quotes that have become ingrained in pop culture. One of the most popular Pokemon memes originated from the Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games, featuring Maxie’s Groudon facing off against a Rowlet named Harold in battle. The hilarious image was made even better by Harold’s blank expression as he looked back at his Trainer for help.

Given the popularity of this meme, it was only a matter of time before the Pokemon community recreated the scene in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This was made possible thanks to the ability to obtain Groudon in the Generation 9 games, as showcased in a post on Reddit by user MiniVEVO. The post features Harold facing off against Groudon once again, but this time he doesn’t look back at his Trainer like in the original image. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were finally made compatible with Pokemon HOME at the end of May, after a delay, which allows Trainers to transfer their Pokemon to the Paldea region from previous games.

This much-awaited feature makes it possible to bring most Pokemon to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, though players should note that there are still some species that cannot be brought to the Pokemon games available on the Switch. Despite the countless issues that have plagued Pokemon Scarlet and Violet since their release, the absence of Pokemon HOME connectivity for over half a year was one of the community’s biggest complaints about the Generation 9 titles.

Despite the upcoming DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continue to suffer from various bugs and performance issues. Several patches have been released since launch, but they have done little to address these problems. While fans finally received a better look at The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk expansion packs during the recent Nintendo Direct event, many fans doubt that these future DLC packs will fix the graphical and performance issues present in the games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
