‘RHONY’ reboot is ‘karma’ for ‘not nice’ Ramona Singer

According to reality TV personality Kate Chastain, the new cast of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New York City” is a form of karma and retribution for the OG star Ramona Singer’s unpleasant behavior. Chastain, a big fan of reality TV, expresses her views on an upcoming episode of TheFantasyTimes’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast while promoting her new Bravo watch series called “Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate,” alongside fellow “Below Deck” alum Captain Lee Rosbach. Chastain emphasizes the lesson of being kind to others, as one never knows if they might end up taking over their TV show years later and revealing their unpleasant nature.

Chastain’s statement about the “Real Housewives of New York City” reboot, which features an entirely new cast, is a direct response to the recent remarks made by newcomer Sai De Silva about Ramona Singer. De Silva referred to Singer as a “total bitch” based on their encounter at Art Basel in Miami in December 2022. De Silva recounts introducing herself to Singer during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” but the conversation didn’t go well, with Singer responding dismissively. Chastain supports De Silva’s claims, as she had also witnessed similar rude behavior from Singer years ago.

Chastain and Rosbach are both enjoying the current iteration of “Real Housewives of New York City” with the new cast, including De Silva, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan, and Brynn Whitfield. They acknowledge the pressure faced by the new cast in replacing such an iconic franchise but applaud their performance and the freshness they bring to the show.

TheFantasyTimes caught up with Chastain as she promoted her new Bravo watch series, “Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate,” with Captain Lee Rosbach. In addition to discussing “Real Housewives of New York City,” they will share their opinions on other Bravo shows such as “Below Deck Down Under,” “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,” “Real Housewives of Orange County,” “Miami,” and “Atlanta.”

Chastain expresses her excitement about her new gig and her love for Bravo programming. She considers herself lucky to have such a dream job and be a part of the Bravo fandom. “Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate” premieres on Bravo on Monday at 10 p.m. ET.

Karma is a Bravo reboot, according to Kate Chastain.

The unabashed reality TV fan, 40, believes the network’s updated “Real Housewives of New York City” with an entirely new cast is retribution for OG star Ramona Singer’s “not nice” behavior.

“I hope this is just a learning lesson for us all in karma,” she says on an upcoming episode of TheFantasyTimes’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast while promoting “Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate,” her new Bravo watch series with fellow “Below Deck” alum Captain Lee Rosbach.

“And you just never know if you’re rude to someone,” Chastain continues, “they could be taking over your TV show years down the road and telling the world that you were not nice.”

Kate Chastain believes Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New York City” reboot — with an entirely new cast — is “karma” for Ramona Singer’s “not nice” behavior.

The South Florida resident was, of course, referencing “RHONY” newbie Sai De Silva’s recent remarks about Singer, 66, saying the latter was a “total bitch” during a December 2022 encounter at Art Basel in Miami.

“I introduced myself,” the content creator said last month on “Watch What Happens Live” before host Andy Cohen cut her off and guessed, “Oh, boy, that didn’t go well.”

De Silva confirmed that the conversation “didn’t go really well.”

“She treated me like a big — like, not a good fan,” she explained. “Then after that, I proceeded to say, ‘Oh, I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m on the reboot, the new era.’”

The fashion influencer claimed Singer responded, “‘Honey, good luck. You’re gonna need it.’”

Chastain tells TheFantasyTimes that she witnessed similarly curt behavior from Singer years ago.

“I met Ramona when they were filming an episode of ‘RHONY’ on a boat in Sag Harbor before my Bravo days and she is who she is on TV,” the former chief stew recalls. “So I believe Sai’s story tracks.”

Both Chastain and Rosbach, 73, have been enjoying the current iteration of “RHONY” — featuring De Silva, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield — which Bravo green-lit after the original version concluded a 13-season run in 2021.

“There’s a lot of pressure for them coming in and replacing such an iconic franchise,” Chastain notes. “But I cannot believe how well the cast has done, how much I’m enjoying it, how fresh it is and I just love every episode.”

The mom of one — who welcomed son Sullivan Cay in May — elaborates, “And it doesn’t feel like they’re trying to be like the old ‘RHONY.’ They’re just such a strong cast as their own.”

In addition to “RHONY,” Chastain and Rosbach will be sharing their hot takes on “Below Deck Down Under,” “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,” “Real Housewives of Orange County,” “Miami” and “Atlanta,” among more Bravo programming.

“I don’t know about Captain Lee, but this was my plan,” Chastain says, joking that she manifested her “Couch Talk” gig after leaving the yachting industry. “I mean, who doesn’t wish for this? We have the dream job. I love it so much. And I’m such a Bravo fan that this is just so fun for me.”

“Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate” premieres Monday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.
