Robert De Niro’s daughter remembers late son Leandro on 20th birthday

On what would have been Leandro’s 20th birthday, Drena De Niro, daughter of Robert De Niro, expressed her sorrow for her late son. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she reminisced about the two decades of happiness and profound moments that he brought into her life. She hoped that he had found peace and that his spirit was filled with joy. The post included a carousel of throwback pictures, showcasing Leandro as a baby, a video of him dancing, and a photo of him with his famous grandfather.

Unfortunately, this tribute comes shortly after the revelation that Leandro passed away due to a lethal combination of illicit drugs. The New York City Medical Examiner ruled his death as an “accident” caused by fentanyl, alprazolam, bromazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine found in his system.

Drena’s heartbreak intensified as Sophia Marks, the woman responsible for selling the fatal drugs to Leandro, was arrested. Text messages between Marks and Robert De Niro were used as evidence in her arrest. Marks, only 20 years old, confessed to warning Leandro about the dangers of the fentanyl-laced pills she had sold him. It was later discovered that Marks had been selling drugs to teenagers as young as 15.

Drena publicly announced her son’s tragic death on July 2, expressing her deep sorrow and the profound impact he had on her life. She wished she could be with him and conveyed her love and grief. Robert De Niro also paid tribute to his grandson, requesting privacy for their family to mourn their loss.

Leandro was laid to rest on July 8.

Robert De Niro’s daughter mourned her late son, Leandro, on what would have been his 20th birthday.

“You would have been 20 yrs old today💔Thank you for the happiest and most profound 2 decades of my life, little angel. I hope you are at peace and your spirit is filled with joy today and always 🥳♥️🕊️🐒 😢 🕯️8~11~03 – 7~2~23,” Drena De Niro captioned a carousel of throwback pictures on Instagram Friday.

The heartfelt tribute included snaps of Leandro as a baby, a video of him dancing and one of the teen alongside his famous grandfather.

Drena’s heartbreaking post comes days after it was revealed that her son had died from a “toxic” combination of illicit drugs.

The New York City Medical Examiner told TheFantasyTimes Tuesday that the teenager’s death was ruled an “accident” after it was determined he had a mix of fentanyl, alprazolam, bromazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine and cocaine in his system.

Police arrested Sophia Marks, the woman allegedly responsible for selling Leandro the fatal drugs, on July 13 after cops obtained texts between her and the “A Star Is Born” actor about the pills.

Marks, 20, admitted she warned the teen against taking the fentanyl-laced pills she supposedly sold him, according to a criminal complaint obtained by TheFantasyTimes.

She is believed to have sold drugs to kids as young as 15.
