SAG AFTRA STIKE OVER! Committee Approved A Tentative Agreement With AMPTP After 118 Days

CASE AFTRA

The SAG AFTRA Strike is Officially Over:
Hollywood can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Yes, the highly talked-about and terrifying SAG AFTRA strike has finally come to an end. After being on strike for 118 days, the members have reached a tentative conclusion and officially declared that the strike is over. Happy days lie ahead!

The tweet reads as follows:
Dear #SagAftraMembers
We are excited and proud to inform you that today your TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee has unanimously approved a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. As of 12:01 a.m. PT on November 9, our strike is officially suspended and all picket locations are closed. We will provide further information about celebration gatherings across the country in the coming days.

In a contract valued at over one billion dollars, we have achieved an extraordinary deal that includes “above-pattern” minimum compensation increases, unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation to protect members from the threat of AI, and for the first time establishes a streaming participation bonus. Our Pension & Health caps have been significantly raised, providing much-needed value to our plans. Additionally, the deal encompasses various improvements for multiple categories, including substantial compensation increases for background performers, as well as critical contract provisions safeguarding diverse communities.

We have accomplished a contract that will enable SAG-AFTRA members from all categories to build sustainable careers. Many thousands of performers, both present and future, will benefit from this achievement. Full details of the agreement will be provided once the tentative agreement is reviewed by the SAG-AFTRA National Board.

We also express our gratitude to our fellow union members—the workers who power this industry—for the sacrifices they have made in supporting our strike and that of the Writers Guild of America. We stand together in solidarity and will be there for you when you need us. Thank you all for your dedication, commitment, and solidarity throughout this strike. It is because of YOU that these improvements have become possible.

In solidarity and gratitude,
Your TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee
