Secret Invasion episode 3 ending explained

Last week’s installment concluded with Nick Fury becoming a wanted man in Europe. Gravik, the new Skrull general, now holds power, posing a significant challenge for Fury. However, this ending may not be as it appears, especially considering the revelation that Fury is married to a Skrull. Let’s delve into the explanation of episode 3’s ending of Secret Invasion to uncover what unfolded.

Explaining the Ending of Secret Invasion Episode 3

Secret Invasion, Marvel, Entertainment

In this recap of Secret Invasion episode 3, Pagon reveals his plan to Beto: to create chaos as a means of securing the future of their people. He assigns them new identities crucial to the success of their plan. Meanwhile, in another part of New Skrulls, Gravik presents the machine created by Doctor Rosa Dalton to the Skrull Council, explaining Pagon’s intentions.

Their attack will provoke a reaction from Earth’s heroes, leading to a battle that will grant them their own abilities using the machine. Gravik emphasizes that Pagon’s assault will mark the beginning of an all-out war on Earth, taking full advantage of the ensuing chaos.

Returning to 1998 New York, a young Fury meets Varra at a diner. They discuss Varra’s mission and flirt with each other. Back in the present, Fury has breakfast with Varra, questioning why he has returned to Earth after a prolonged absence. Their conversation escalates into an argument as Fury suspects Varra of being in contact with Gravik. Varra abruptly leaves after receiving a call, arousing Fury’s suspicions.

In New Skrullos, Gravik expresses his suspicion to G’iah that someone must have exposed Brogan to the authorities, resulting in his arrest. G’iah deflects the accusation by claiming Brogan’s weakness, and Gravik orders her to accompany him the following day. After the confrontation, Gravik takes G’iah to meet Talos and negotiate his daughter’s safety. As the Skrull general steps out of the car, G’iah sends a text message detailing the upcoming attack and its precise timing.

Within a museum, Talos confronts Gravik, urging him to abandon his plans of conquering the planet. Talos threatens to kill G’iah and attacks Gravik, causing the disguised Skrulls in the vicinity to assume Gravik’s human form. The general signals for them to revert to their disguises, justifying his intent to kill all humans and seize control of their planet. Talos vows not to let Gravik have the advantage of anonymity when he initiates his war.

Gravik brings up G’iah again, provoking Talos into attacking him. Talos warns the younger Skrull to keep his daughter out of his plans before departing. Outside the museum, a stranger hands Talos a phone before vanishing. Gravik then enters G’iah’s car, and they drive away together.

Fury meets Talos at a bar, informing him of a Skrull occupying a high-ranking position in the United States government who needs to be eliminated. Talos initially refuses but eventually relents after Fury pleads with him. As they travel together, Talos reveals that G’iah acts as his informant, leaking Gravik’s plans to him. Utilizing the information provided by Talos’ daughter, Fury contacts Sonya Falsworth and warns her that Skrulls are planning to attack the British submarine Neptune, intending to initiate World War III. He provides the identity and location of Neptune’s commanding officer, Commodore Robert Fairbanks, to aid in their mission.

During their journey to the specified location, Talos discloses that he and other Skrulls operated as a secret spy network to assist Fury in ascending the ranks and becoming the director of SHIELD. Upon arrival, they discover that Fairbanks has taken Talos hostage, while Fury holds Fairbanks’ son at gunpoint. They agree to release each other’s hostages, and Fury learns that the Neptune is poised to attack a United Nations plane.

While interrogating Fairbanks, they uncover his true identity as a Skrull after Talos offers him protection from Gravik. Negotiations take a turn for the worse when Fairbanks refuses to provide the code necessary to abort the Neptune’s attack. Fury shoots him in the leg in frustration. Talos advises Fury to leave, as he plans to extract the code from Fairbanks. Unfortunately, Talos shoots Fairbanks in the heart after mentioning G’iah.

With Fairbanks dead, Talos contacts his daughter in an attempt to obtain the launch termination password. G’iah acquires the code from the real Fairbanks, who is being held captive in New Skrullos, inadvertently exposing her cover. Talos uses the information to abort the Neptune’s attack, while G’iah prepares to escape from New Skrullos.

Subsequently, Fury discusses Gravik’s earlier proposition of joining forces with Talos to conquer Earth. Talos reaffirms his decision to side with Fury rather than aligning with Gravik. Meanwhile, G’iah is apprehended by the Skrull general and faces execution for betraying their cause.

Varra receives a call and hastily departs from her home. She retrieves a case containing a handgun and is instructed to proceed to Saint James within an hour. Varra expresses her desire to speak with Gravik, but the voice on the other end informs her that she will be in contact with him, not the Skrull general.
