Shanna Moakler mourns the death of her dad 7 months after losing mom
Shanna Moakler shared the heartbreaking news on Friday that her father, John W. Moakler III, has passed away. Taking to Instagram, the former beauty queen expressed her deep sadness and mentioned that the only comfort she has is knowing that he is now reunited with her late mother. She expressed gratitude for the many years she had with both her parents, particularly for the precious time she spent with her father in his last weeks. Shanna described her father as an extraordinary husband, doctor, and father, stating that he exceeded all expectations. She also acknowledged that her parents had always supported her, even when she didn’t deserve it. She concluded her message by professing her love for her dad and expressing her appreciation for the support she has received from others. Shanna, who tragically lost her mother, Gail Moakler, in January when she was just seven years old, shared a series of throwback photos on Instagram featuring her and her father throughout the years. The final photo in the tribute showcased John and Gail during their younger days. Earlier this year, Shanna wrote a similar tribute for her mother after her passing. Prior to John’s death, he had been battling a series of health issues resulting from a stroke he suffered in April 2021. This led him to receive treatment in the intensive care unit, where he contracted COVID-19. Doctors informed the family that he would never regain his ability to walk, which deeply affected Shanna. She frequently shared glimpses of her family life on social media, including heartfelt messages about her father, such as one she posted on Father’s Day. Shanna, who was previously married to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, has two children with him, Landon and Alabama. She also has a daughter named Atiana from a previous relationship, and Travis Barker has since moved on and is expecting a child with Kourtney Kardashian.
