Shannen Doherty looks happy on vacation in Italy as she battles breast cancer that spread to brain
Shannen Doherty was seen radiating joy while on vacation in Italy, despite her ongoing battle with cancer. The beloved “Heathers” actress appeared to be in high spirits as she danced and enjoyed drinks during a lunch outing with friends in Nerano on Monday. She looked stunning in a black one-piece swimsuit, complemented by red bottoms, sunglasses, and a stylish fedora hat. Doherty, who is 52 years old, was also captured sharing laughter with a male companion while relaxing on a boat. This trip follows her revelation earlier this summer that her breast cancer had spread to her brain. In a poignant video posted on June 6, the “Charmed” star documented her preparations for radiation therapy after receiving the heartbreaking news in January. Doherty expressed her fear and claustrophobia, but also expressed gratitude for the exceptional medical care she has been receiving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She emphasized the emotional turmoil and the unpredictability of cancer, stating that her experience is a testament to its diverse manifestations. In June, she disclosed that her breast cancer had metastasized to her brain. Doherty’s cancer journey has been a rollercoaster ride, marked by ups and downs since her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. Although she achieved remission in 2017, she announced in 2020 that she was now battling stage 4 cancer. In a tearful interview with “Good Morning America,” she candidly shared her fight for survival, admitting her profound fear and acknowledging the bitter reality of her situation. Despite her struggles, she questioned why she deserved any better, recognizing that no one should have to endure such a hardship. Alongside her cancer battle, Doherty made the difficult decision to file for divorce from her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, in April. Her publicist explained that divorce was not what Doherty desired, but she felt it was her only option. Prior to Iswarienko, she was married to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.

In an interview with “Good Morning America,” she tearfully admitted that she was “fighting to stay alive.”
“I’m petrified,” she said. “It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?’ And then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?’ None of us do.”

Amid her cancer battle, Doherty filed for divorce from her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, in April.
“Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted,” her publicist told TheFantasyTimes at the time. “Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option.”
