To fully enjoy all the gameplay in High School Years, making teen friends is crucial. Players can add others on Social Bunny, the popular social network in the game, or join school clubs and sports teams to meet other teens. Once friendships are formed, the game introduces new interactions and rabbit holes. One of these rabbit holes is the ability to sneak out, but having friends isn’t the only thing needed to sneak out.
The Sims 4 encourages players to experience life’s triumphs and challenges throughout different age ranges. The teen gameplay has expanded significantly with DLC such as the High School Years and Growing Together Expansions and the Parenthood Game pack. The Sims 4: High School Years is geared towards teen Sims and introduces concepts like prom, afterschool sports, and get-togethers.
To sneak out in The Sims 4, players must do a few things before their Sims can sneak out. First, at least one EZ Window must be placed on the lot. It has to be usable from both sides of the window, meaning that Sims can use it to enter and exit a room. While the window can be placed in the same positions as normal ones, an orange block will be underneath the window if the sneaking out gameplay isn’t active. Next, ensure the box is green and the window isn’t too close to a door, so Sims can go in and out of it.
Players can build a trellis that Sims can use to climb up and down if the house sits on a foundation or the window is on the second story. However, the window must be next to a walkable area like a balcony or a platform. To test out the gameplay, lock all other entrances so that a Sim has to use the window. Sneaking out is triggered randomly in gameplay. When teens have a good enough relationship with another teen, they will occasionally get a phone call from them inviting them out to something like a late-night concert or party.
If players accept the invitation, a pop-up will appear, giving details on the different options teens have to go to the event. It says teens can ask for permission, but if all else fails and their parents say no, sneaking out is the way to go. Players can click anywhere on the ground or on the EZ window for the option to sneak out. Locking their bedroom doors is an excellent way to ensure teens sneak out successfully. Also, make sure parents are either preoccupied or sleeping because if teens are caught, they will get in trouble, which grants a negative moodlet.
If players click the ground to sneak out, their Sim will use the front door. Using the window will ensure teens climb out the EZ window, stealthily walk around the house, and leave the lot. Players aren’t able to join their Sims on the adventure, but if they can go the entire night without their absence being discovered, they will gain a Confident moodlet and, if paired with The Sims 4: Parenthood Game Pack, will lose Responsibility points.
The teen Aspirations in the pack may call on them to sneak out, but this can take a long time since it happens randomly. The Sims 4: High School Years is available on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and Xbox One. To enhance the teen gameplay experience, players can use mods that improve teen gameplay.
