Starfield Has A Brand-New Partner on PC

Starfield has recently announced that AMD will be its exclusive PC partner for the highly-anticipated release later this year. As Bethesda’s first new IP in almost three decades, gamers are understandably excited about what the studio has in store for them with Starfield.

The hype for Starfield among the gaming community is at an all-time high at the moment. The recent showcase gave players a huge look at what they can expect from Bethesda’s upcoming title, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Concerns over its scale and combat mechanics were washed away with the recent gameplay reveal, leaving gamers excited about the upcoming RPG. The game had to be delayed to get into such good shape, but if it results in a great RPG, then those delays will soon be a distant memory.

The news was announced on AMD’s official YouTube channel, confirming that the hardware manufacturer will be Starfield‘s exclusive PC partner. AMD claims that it has worked alongside Bethesda to optimize Starfield for Ryzen 7000 series processors, as well as Radeon 7000 series graphics. This means that some of the best AMD GPUs on the market will experience much-improved performance in-game. The video confirms that this won’t just affect PC gamers, either. The Xbox Series X uses AMD components, so it should result in a better-performing game for everyone. Hopefully, the game retains such strong performance on both Intel processors and NVIDIA graphics cards, as it would be a shame for some users to be left behind.

Ultimately, this development is great news. The gaming industry has seen too many bad PC ports lately, and players deserve better. The likes of The Last of Us Part 1 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have left a bad taste in the mouths of PC gamers, and a poor port for Starfield could be quite tough to swallow. With a game of Starfield‘s scale, optimization is a crucial part of the development process. The game is promising over 1,000 planets – that’s going to hit performance hard without great optimization.

With just a few months to go until the game’s release, it will be exciting to see how Bethesda markets Starfield. The recent showcase was a great step in the right direction, and this AMD news is great for consumers. As is tradition, Bethesda has sent Todd Howard on the press tour, doing the rounds to hype up the game. Just recently, he explained why Starfield will be a “modder’s paradise” on PC. Hopefully, players get more great news like this in the coming weeks, as the release draws closer day by day.

Starfield is set to release on September 6, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
