Tears Of The Kingdom: Poe Guide

While traversing the vast realm of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may stumble upon various enigmatic items whose purpose and usage remain unclear. Given the immensity of the game, it can be challenging to discern where to take these items in order to utilize them effectively. One particular type of item found within The Depths of Hyrule, the sprawling underground network, is the collection of Poes available in the shop. When acquired, their descriptions fail to provide explicit instructions regarding their use, apart from the fact that they can be traded. This guide aims to shed light on the nature of Poes and their practical applications.

Updated by Erin Rice on July 5, 2023: Upon further exploration of The Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it becomes apparent that certain areas within The Depths correspond to specific locations on the surface. This additional information is invaluable as it provides clarity on where each area can be found by referencing the surface-level map. Additionally, the guide now includes the names of the Shrines associated with the Lightroots, a section offering tips on locating the Bargainer Statues, and relevant links to assist players on their journey.

What exactly are Poes? While navigating The Depths, you may encounter ethereal blue flames known as Poes. Their description states, “A luminous spirit orb found throughout The Depths. Offer these to a Bargainer Statue for various rewards.” The Bargainer Statues describe Poes as wandering spirits scattered throughout the area, which can be exchanged for different items. You can find regular Poes in the shop, each offering 1 Poe. Additionally, there are Large Poes worth 5 Poes and Grand Poes worth 20 Poes.

Where can you find Poes? Poes can be found within The Depths, often in specific locations scattered across the map. They are particularly abundant near abandoned mines and at the bottom of chasms. Monster camps within The Depths also serve as common spots for encountering Poes. Their vivid blue hue makes them easily distinguishable amidst the darkness of The Depths.

Do Poes respawn? An important aspect of farming Poes is understanding whether they respawn or not. Fortunately, Poes have fixed locations, meaning that if you were to leave The Depths and return, you would find them in the same places. This facilitates efficient farming of Poes in large quantities. Poes respawn every 2 in-game days, and resting at a fire or sleeping at an inn does not hasten this process. If you venture out of The Depths and explore elsewhere, you can return to find more Poes.

Tips for locating Poes: Poes can be found throughout The Depths, although Large Poes and Grand Poes may prove more challenging to locate, potentially requiring a considerable amount of time to accumulate a substantial number of Poes. To expedite this process, several strategies can be employed. Visiting larger abandoned mines reveals a plethora of Poes atop these structures, necessitating the use of your Ascend Ability to reach them. In total, there are 10 abandoned mines, including Abandoned Hebra Mine (below Rito Village), Abandoned Eldin Mine (below Goron City), Abandoned Tarrey Mine (below Tarrey Town), Abandoned Kakariko Mine (below Kakariko Village), Abandoned Kara Kara Mine (below Kara Kara Bazaar), Abandoned Gerudo Mine (below Gerudo Town), Great Abandoned Central Mine (below the Temple of Time Ruins on the Great Plateau), Abandoned Lurelin Mine (below Lurelin Village), Abandoned Hateno Mine (below Hateno Village), and Abandoned Lanayru Mine (below Mount Lanayru).

What are Bargainer Statues? Bargainer Statues serve as trade points for Poes, enabling you to exchange them for various items. The first Bargainer Statue can be found in Lookout Landing, close to Robbie and Josha. Upon approaching it, the statue will merely utter the word “Poes…” Once you have acquired Poes within The Depths, you can engage in trade with these statues. Conversing with a Bargainer Statue will provide information about its brethren, other hidden Bargainer Statues within The Depths. In total, there are six additional Bargainer Statues, resulting in a total of seven (including the one in Lookout Landing).

Locations of Bargainer Statues: As previously mentioned, there are six other Bargainer Statues scattered throughout The Depths. Each statue is situated in a distinct location and offers a unique selection of items for purchase. Accessing some of the Bargainer Statues may prove challenging. Throughout The Depths, you will encounter areas containing Zonai Materials, which can aid in your traversal. The most suitable Zonai-Fused vehicle for exploration purposes is the Hoverbike.

Great Abandoned Central Mine: This Bargainer Statue resides on the bottom floor of the Great Abandoned Central Mine. You can either descend using the elevator near the Forge Construct or jump down to reach it. Completing the short quest titled “A Call From The Depths” is necessary to unlock this Bargainer Statue. The quest can be found near the Temple of Time Ruins on the Great Plateau (not the one in the sky, but the one on the surface level), directly beneath these ruins. The closest chasm to this location is the Great Plateau East Chasm. The corresponding Lightroot is Nogukoyk Lightroot, linked to the Kyokugon Shrine.

The nearest chasm would likely be the Hyrule Fields Chasm, the first chasm encountered in the game.

It is in close proximity to the Lanayru Canyon Mine, and the nearby chasm is the Naydra Snowfield Chasm, situated near the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. The closest Lightroot to this area is Akinatanis Lightroot, situated beneath the Sinatanika Shrine. The nearest chasm is the Akkala Plains Chasm. Exercise caution while venturing in this vicinity, as proximity to the area beneath Death Mountain requires wearing the Flamebreaker outfit. Note that the Flamebreaker armor set is not mandatory to access the Bargainer Statue.

Cliff Bargainer Statue: Considered the most challenging Bargainer Statue to reach, it is positioned in the uppermost part of The Depths, near the openings in the ceiling where chasms appear. Reaching this statue necessitates extensive climbing, so it is advisable to bring stamina-restoring supplies. Zonai vehicles can also be created to aid in reaching this location. The nearest Lightroot is Yisuayam Lightroot, directly below the…

They will respawn every 2 days in-game. However, it seems that resting at a fire or sleeping at an inn does not speed this process up. If you leave The Depths and go exploring for a while, you can come back to find more Poes.
