‘Teen Mom’ alum Jenelle Evans’ son Jace reported as runaway, found after hours missing
Jenelle Evans’ son, Jace, was found safe just a few hours after the former “Teen Mom” star reported him missing. According to TMZ, Jace, who was reported as a runaway on Tuesday, was last seen leaving his school in Brunswick County, N.C. around 2:45 p.m. The Brunswick Co. Sheriff’s Department issued an alert for Jace, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt with the words “Classical Charter Schools of America.” It is believed that he may have changed into a navy T-shirt. Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, stated that she spoke to Jace the night before and he seemed to be in good spirits. However, Jenelle explained that her son’s disappearance was simply a result of teenage angst. She mentioned that Jace got into trouble at school, so they decided to take away his phone, which led him to run away. Jenelle emphasized that this incident has nothing to do with her ongoing marital issues with her husband, David Eason. Jace’s disappearance was resolved quickly, and Jenelle expressed that her son is a good kid who is going through a typical phase of rebellion. She assured everyone that they are dealing with normal challenges faced by families raising children. Jenelle shared a birthday tribute to Jace just a week before his recent rebellious behavior, expressing her happiness for his growth and polite demeanor. In March, Jenelle regained full custody of Jace after years of personal and legal issues. Previously, her mother had custody of him due to Jenelle’s legal troubles. Despite their past feuds, both Jenelle and her mother hoped that the new custody arrangement would improve their strained relationship. Jenelle explained that they made the decision together in order to rebuild their mother-daughter bond and believed it was time for Jace to be with his siblings and experience living with a mother and father figure. They felt it was important for him to have male influence in his life. After regaining custody, the blended family celebrated their first holiday together, Easter, with a family photo that included Jace, his stepfather, and his stepsister.

The teen, who was reported as a runaway Tuesday, was last seen leaving his school in Brunswick County, N.C. around 2:45 p.m., per TMZ.
Deputies with the Brunswick Co. Sheriff’s Department later put out an alert for Jace, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt with the writing “Classical Charter Schools of America.”
Police say the teen — whom Evans shares with ex Andrew Lewis — may have changed into a navy T-shirt.
Meanwhile, her mother, Barbara Evans, told the outlet that she spoke to Jace Monday night and he appeared to be in good spirits.

However, Evans told the outlet that her son’s brief disappearance is just a bout of teenage angst.
“As a boy mom, kids can act up and rebel as I’m sure the majority of us all once did as kids too,” she explained. “Jace, got in trouble at school, we decided to take his phone away and that’s when he decided to run off, Jace is a good kid and we’re not dealing with anything that most families don’t deal with while raising children.”
She noted that his decision has “absolutely nothing to do” with her ongoing marital issues with husband David Eason.

“We do not argue in front of our children or fight in front of our kids,” she continued. “This is a teenage boy being a teenager mad that we decided to take his phone away.”

The “16 & Pregnant” alum posted a birthday tribute to Jace just one week before his recent rebellious behavior.
“14 YEARS OLD EVERYONE! 🎂✨ #HappyBirthday to Jace! You’re growing into a such polite young man. I’m happy as long as you’re happy! ❤️💯” she captioned a series of photos with her eldest.

Jenelle got full custody of Jace back in March following years of personal — and legal — issues.
In 2010, Jenelle’s mother was awarded custody of Jace when he was just one year old. At the time, Janelle, then 18, had been charged with marijuana possession and breaking and entering.
While the mother-daughter duo feuded for many years, they both hoped the new custody situation would help improve their strained relationship.

“My mom and I decided together to grant full custody back to me because we want to build our relationship back as mother and daughter,” she told Us Weekly at the time.
“Also, my mother agrees it’s time for Jace to be back with his siblings and living with a mother and father,” Janelle — who is also mother to Kaiser, 9, with ex Nathan Griffith and Ensley, 6, with Eason — added.
The two women also thought it was important for Jace to be “around a father figure to learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.’”

Soon after regaining custody of teen, the blended family all celebrated their first holiday together.
“Easter vibes, and sunny skies! #HappyEaster 🌤️💗🐇,” she captioned a family flick, in which Jace matched his stepdad in a button-up shirt and hat.
Eason’s 15-year-old daughter, Maryssa, also posed for the sweet family photos.
