In this week’s recap of The Righteous Gemstones season 3 episode 4, Keefe supervises an ice cream and wiener party for the church’s teenagers and their parents. Unexpectedly, one of the men, whose supply of sex toys was depleted due to Keefe’s purchases, confronts him and exposes his actions to everyone.

The focus then shifts to Jesse and Amber, with Jesse emphasizing the significance of joining the Cape and Pistol Society, an organization comprising pastors who are passionate about firearms. Suddenly, Pontius arrives with his girlfriend, Michaela. Their parents reprimand Pontius for not getting accepted into any college, leading the couple to leave. Meanwhile, Karl and Chuck Montgomery undergo grooming and preparation to improve their appearance as they reside within the Gemstone compound and anticipate attending Sunday service with their extended family.

After the service, the Gemstones and the Montgomeries have a meal together at their usual spot. Peter, May-May’s husband and the father of her children, unexpectedly shows up. He apologizes to Karl and Chuck for baseless accusations and invites them to return home. However, the two refuse, which angers Peter. In response, Eli and his family draw their firearms on Peter, causing him to leave. Before departing, he warns Eli that he and his family will face consequences in the future.

The following day, Kelvin confronts Keefe about the incident at the ice cream and wiener party and expresses his anger towards him. Meanwhile, Judy receives an unsolicited explicit photo from Stephen while he is on a date with BJ. Shortly after, BJ also receives the same photo, prompting Judy to block the sender’s number. She avoids her husband’s inquiries and continues their date.

During a Cape and Pistol meeting, Jesse is finally admitted into the society. Craig Simkins approaches him and mocks him for joining the group easily as Eli’s son. In response, Jesse insults him, attracting the leader’s attention as profanity is prohibited in their gatherings. Consequently, Jesse receives a “white slap,” a form of punishment where a masked member slaps him.

Outside the building, Baby Billy encounters Jesse and proposes the revival of Bible Bonkers. The two almost engage in a physical altercation before Baby Billy asserts that Jesse is not his father, as Eli had Aimee Leigh’s assistance, while Jesse only has his siblings to rely on for running the church. Before leaving, Baby Billy promises to bring back their mother and restore the church’s former glory.

Back at the Gemstone compound, Eli finds Karl and Chuck exterminating gophers on their property. He expresses his pride in them for standing up to their father. Meanwhile, Kelvin speaks to the parents of his teenage ministry members. They inform Eli’s youngest child that they do not want Keefe near their children, and they will withdraw them from his ministry if necessary.

In an outdoor court, BJ partners with Stephen in a Pickleball doubles match. After Stephen makes inappropriate comments about a certain girl, BJ intervenes and asks him to tone down his rhetoric. Stephen implies that he loves the girl, leaving BJ puzzled. Meanwhile, BJ and May-May spend time together and discuss their children.

Inside the church, Jesse and Judy inform Kelvin that Keefe must be removed due to the recent damage to his reputation. Shortly after, BJ informs Judy about his encounter with Stephen during dinner. They agree that speaking to BJ directly may worsen the situation. Jesse confronts Baby Billy about his earlier claim of resurrecting Aimee Leigh. He reveals the use of an AI hologram to showcase her mother to the public, causing Jesse to become emotional at the sight of his mother.

Kelvin talks to Keefe, informing him that he will no longer serve as the assistant youth pastor and will be reassigned to immigrant outreach. Keefe accepts the decision, agrees to take on the new role, and plans to move out the following day. As Keefe leaves Kelvin’s presence, Eli’s youngest son is visibly upset by the turn of events. Meanwhile, Judy confronts Stephen in an arcade about his interactions with BJ and the messages he has been sending. BJ arrives, and it is revealed that Stephen has also invited him to discuss the hidden truths they have been concealing.

In the garden, Eli organizes a gathering for May-May, with her children playing music for her. As the song plays, a montage of scenes unfolds, including Jesse catching Pontius engaging in sexual activity with his girlfriend, BJ and Judy arguing, Keefe’s departure, and the Montgomery brothers meeting their father and giving him a truck filled with Ammonium Nitrate. The episode concludes with Peter colluding with his sons behind Eli and May-May’s backs.
