The Writers Guild of America and major film studios have engaged in discussions and appear to be making progress towards resolving the strike that has significantly impacted the industry in recent months.

Confirming recent developments on Sunday, the Guild announced that they have reached a tentative agreement, although there are still some details left to be finalized before a final decision can be made.

The WGA stated, “We are pleased to announce that the WGA has reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. This achievement is a result of the unwavering solidarity of our members and the exceptional support we have received from our fellow unions who stood by us during the 146 days of picketing.”

“We can proudly state that this agreement is extraordinary, offering significant benefits and safeguards for writers across all sectors of our organization,” expressed the union committee following the negotiation.

Responding to the news, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass commented, “Now, our focus must be on revitalizing the entertainment industry and supporting the recovery of all the small businesses that rely on it, ensuring they emerge stronger than ever before.”

The WGA has temporarily suspended picketing activities. However, actors in Hollywood will continue their strike until their union, SAG-AFTRA, reaches a satisfactory agreement with the studios.

On Sunday, Guild confirmed that they have reached a tentative deal, and a few things are yet to be discussed before making the final decision.

WGA shared, “WGA has reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and the extraordinary support of our union siblings, who joined us on the picket lines for over 146 days.”

“We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional—with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership,” expressed the union committee after the negotiation.

Reacting to the same, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said, “Now, we must focus on getting the entertainment industry and all the small businesses that depend on it back on their feet and stronger than ever before.”

WGA’s picketing is suspended now. However, Hollywood actors will continue their strike until their union, SAG-AFTRA, reaches a deal with the studios.
