Topher Grace’s wife Ashley supports rape victims after Danny Masterson sentencing

Topher Grace’s spouse, Ashley Hinshaw, came forward to support victims of sexual abuse following the sentencing of Danny Masterson, Grace’s co-star, for rape. In an Instagram Story, Hinshaw, known for her role in “About Cherry,” expressed solidarity with rape victims who are retraumatized by society’s focus on the perpetrator rather than their well-being. Although Masterson was not directly mentioned, Hinshaw’s post coincided with his sentencing to 30 years to life for raping two women in 2003. While Grace has chosen to remain silent on the matter, many have commended him for not advocating for Masterson, unlike some of their fellow cast members who wrote letters to the judge. One person commented on Grace’s recent Instagram post, praising him for not joining the others in supporting Masterson. Hinshaw’s message to rape victims was clear: she sees and acknowledges their pain. Grace, however, has yet to comment on Masterson’s sentencing.

Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Debra Jo Rupp, and Kurtwood Smith, who all starred alongside Masterson on “That ’70s Show” from 1998 to 2004, wrote letters before the sentencing. Kutcher described Masterson as a positive influence and role model in his note, while Kunis referred to him as an amazing friend and an older brother figure. Chrissie Carnell Bixler, one of the women who accused Masterson of assault, criticized Kutcher and Kunis on her Instagram Stories. She also took the opportunity to thank Hinshaw for her support, calling Grace a fortunate and deserving man. Grace, Kutcher, Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama, and Laura Prepon all starred alongside Masterson on the hit sitcom.

Masterson’s caring nature and guidance were instrumental in Kunis’s personal and professional growth, according to the actress. Masterson’s guilty verdict for rape came after a retrial, as the first trial ended in a hung jury in November 2022. The three women who accused him were all former Scientologists. One of them claimed to have been raped by Masterson in 2001 at the age of 23, another alleged rape in April 2003 at the age of 28, and the third claimed he raped her in 2003 at the age of 23. The case of the third accuser resulted in a mistrial and was dismissed. Masterson, who previously pleaded not guilty, maintains his innocence.

Following his sentencing, Masterson, known for his role in “Men at Work,” is under 24-hour surveillance in prison to monitor his mental well-being. His wife, Bijou Phillips, reportedly believes he won’t harm himself but fears that someone else might harm him. Phillips, known for her role in “Raising Hope,” is hopeful that her husband’s case will be appealed, as his attorneys have expressed their intention to pursue an appeal.

Topher Grace’s wife, Ashley Hinshaw, spoke up in defense of sexual abuse victims after her husband’s co-star Danny Masterson was issued a lengthy prison sentence for rape.

“To every rape victim that is that is retraumatized by witnessing society debate and focus their attention on what is going to happen to the RAPIST … I see you,” the “About Cherry” star, 34, wrote over a photo of trees via her Instagram Story Friday.

Although Hinshaw did not mention Masterson, the post came only a day after the “That 70’s Show” alum was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women in 2003.

Meanwhile, Grace, 45, has remained mum on the matter, but several people have praised the actor for his silence given that some of his other sitcom co-stars took the time to write letters to the judge to advocate for Masterson, 47.

“Congrats on being the one guy on the show who didn’t completely suck, in addition to being the best actor especially following the show,” one person commented on Grace’s most recent Instagram post.

Another added, “Thank you for not writing a letter for danny like the rest of your cast. You’re the only one on that show that doesn’t make me sick.”

Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith, who all starred on “That ’70s Show” alongside Masterson from 1998 to 2004, wrote letters ahead of the sentencing.

“As a friend, Danny has been nothing but a positive influence on me,” Kutcher, 45, gushed in his note, adding that Masterson was a “role model.”

Meanwhile, Kunis, for her part, shared that “The Ranch” alum was an “amazing friend” and like an “older brother figure” to her.

“His caring nature and ability to offer guidance have been instrumental in my growth both personally and professionally,” the “Friends With Benefits” actress, 40, added.

Chrissie Carnell Bixler, one of the three women who accused Masterson of assault and has identified herself after being anonymous during the trial, slammed Kutcher and Kunis via her Instagram Stories.

The actress also took an opportunity to thank Hinshaw for her words, writing, “Topher is a lucky and deserving man.” Grace and Hinshaw have been married since 2016 and share three kids.

Following Masterson’s sentencing, the “Men at Work” alum was placed under 24-surveillance behind bars to monitor him for mental distress.

His wife, Bijou Phillips, reportedly believes he will not harm himself in jail but does think someone else will try to “kill” him.

A source also told the Daily Mail this week that the “Raising Hope” actress, 43, is holding out hope that her husband’s case will be appealed, which his attorneys have said they plan to pursue.
