Victoria Bailey Aims to Expand and Diversify Theater Audiences – The Gentleman Report
When Victoria Bailey assumed control of Theater Development Fund in 2001, she was informed that the organization’s flagship program, the TKTS discount ticket booth, had not ceased operations for almost three decades. However, shortly after her tenure began, the booth had to be temporarily closed due to the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Throughout the years, it has encountered closures resulting from various factors such as power outages, hurricanes, labor strikes, and now the ongoing pandemic.
After a productive 22-year term, Bailey, who has been at the helm, will be stepping down as the executive director of the organization on her 67th birthday. Under her exceptional guidance, the Theater Development Fund successfully facilitated the sale of 615,000 tickets during the previous fiscal year. The organization’s primary objective is to ensure theater accessibility for all individuals, including those facing financial constraints, students, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Recognizing her outstanding contributions to theater, Bailey was recently honored with a Tony Honor for Excellence in Theater. On August 7th, she will pass the baton to Deeksha Gaur, the co-founder of Show-Score, a reputable theater reviews platform.
