Why Sofia Vergara once thought Joe Manganiello romance would be ‘too much work’
Sofia Vergara once believed that being in a relationship with her now-husband Joe Manganiello would require too much effort because of his attractiveness.
In a rediscovered interview from “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the “Modern Family” actress confessed that she was hesitant to pursue a relationship with the handsome actor after witnessing how women constantly threw themselves at him.
“When I met him, I told him that he was too good-looking,” the 51-year-old explained in 2015, mentioning that she had just ended her engagement with Nick Loeb.
“I didn’t want to get into a relationship with someone who… I thought he would be too much work because girls were throwing themselves at him,” she continued. “I was like, ‘Oh no! Please, I want someone normal.’”

In fact, Vergara claimed that women would even try to make moves on the “Magic Mike” actor — who was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive that same year — right in front of her.
“Girls don’t care,” she joked. “I mean, have you seen him? I mean, I understand. I don’t judge them.”
Despite her initial reservations, Vergara eventually became engaged to Manganiello, 46, less than a year after they began dating. They tied the knot in November 2015 in a star-studded ceremony at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
However, many fans are concerned that they may be facing marital issues after Manganiello posted a “cold” birthday message to his wife earlier this week.
While the Colombian beauty is currently celebrating with her friends in Italy, the “True Blood” actor — who did not accompany his wife on the vacation — simply posted a blurry throwback photo on Instagram with the caption, “¡¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!”
Fans were quick to express their disappointment in the comments section, criticizing the “dry” way he acknowledged his wife’s special day.

In a resurfaced interview from “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the “Modern Family” actress admitted that she was hesitant to pursue a relationship with the hunky actor after seeing how women were constantly “throwing themselves at him.”

Fans were quick to flood the comments section with disdain for the “dry” way he commemorated his wife’s big day.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t like the way it sounds? ‘Sofia’ … not even ‘My love, My beloved wife …. 🤦♀️” one person commented.
“Joe, I hope you guys are ok, that was a very different(cold) happy birthday wish to your wife, compare to previous ones!.😟” another concerned fan wrote.

Meanwhile a third pointed out that Manganiello even posted a more spirited birthday tribute for his dog.

“Something is off. Cold message for her and has two stories about his dog’s birthday. And sofia has not even said thank you,” they wrote, noting that Vergara didn’t like or comment on the post.
On top of that, Vergara seemingly ditched her $500,000 wedding ring during the lavish birthday trip, which she has been heavily documenting on her social media.
However, Manganiello noticeably posted a video of him and Vergara out to dinner last month while the actress posted throwback photos with her hubby on June 29.
